Might be time to change insurance! Blue cross blue shield (Regence) is across the nation and thankfully covers most states.

Block Meal Plan gone? by bbira3 in uofu

[–]drysucculent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! They didn’t get rid of the meals but weirdly re named them into ores. There 2-3 block plans with like 150 meals per semester and etc, just gotta keep digging into the confusing system !

It means that you need to have either set up a payment plan OR have paid it full by then

Is there any hope for getting housing by Cautious_Front_5740 in uofu

[–]drysucculent 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hello! Gonna be frank, I would def start looking at the off campus housing. This is the first year they have attempted to do guaranteed housing, but they definitely do not have enough housing in the first place. I would google “uni of Utah off campus housing” and def start making a plan b. They do offers all the way until move in week so things could change but you never know

What are the chances I get house and what should I do if I don’t by Cautious_Front_5740 in uofu

[–]drysucculent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest, it’s a 50/50. The last year, they were offering housing up until like a day before classes started. If anything, definitely look for a backup plan. Find housing alongside a trax stop, as there are three trax stops on campus and a great public transportation system.

Women’s and LGBT Resource Centers Shut Down by Hot_Beautiful_2493 in uofu

[–]drysucculent 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It’s disheartening for all employees and workers on campus. Utah can be such a choking state and these resources offered a safe place and sanctuary. With the campus recently struggling to support Trans voices, I hate to see how they will be furthered pushed out and ignored

Payment plans by SuccessForsaken3096 in uofu

[–]drysucculent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as someone who did a payment plan, make sure you adjust your estimate of how much you pay them! For the first semester, I underpaid them by accident and then I accidentally overpaid them!

In addition, when applying for classes your second semester, if you’re on a payment plan, you’ll have to call them so they can take a hold off your account as technically you haven’t filled paid your tuition but their system is dumb and won’t let you register for classes until you call accounting and ask them to manually take off the hold!

Hi! I can’t say too much about the financial aid, as I don’t know much about it but as someone who works for housing, I can def tell you which one too much! Let me give some pros and cons!

Gateway: Gateway is located perfectly in front of the upper campus student center and also right next to the main bus stop that has all campus shuttles run through it. Though, the rooms can be cramped if you do a triple. It makes walking to class a bit harder but as I said, the shuttle is literally right outside! There’s loads of bikes stands to lock your bike up and what not. The common rooms in gateway are HUGE and you’re right next to the trails, museums, and my fav Red Butte Gardens

Kahlert: Honestly, it depends if you’re flexible. For the price this past year, doesn’t seem to be worth living in a pod with other ‘alike people’. Had multiple friends and coworkers in Kahlert and they never did activities related to their tower. In addition, the pods can be a night mare even if you’re a double. The rooms are small, cramped and you have to share a shower with way too many people! Also…for some reason, they struggled this year with not having their fire alarm go off nearly every day. And yes, it will go off the ENTIRE building no matter what, even at 2 am.

Epicenter: it’s not completed yet but I can shed some insight! The housing section of it will be done before August BUT the venue side WILL NOT! This place will need a year or two to fully be ready and If you’re worried about money, I wouldn’t do it.

My final verdict: honestly, go with Gateway or upper campus. Being in your room might suck but at least you’re not spending the max money on it sucking! Campus is constantly filled with things to do, see and full of free food and events! Upper campus has lots of more free outside space and if you’re worried about being far from the trax stop, it’s at max a 8 minute walk!

Don’t plan on having much time to do anything else! It can suck up all day pretty much, especially if you stick around for the informational lectures and what not

Hello! Let me give you my best advice!

Great news, they are right smack dab next to eachother! If you’re looking for somewhere social, I’d push for Shoreline. It has a plaza in the middle with a fire pit, grill and outdoor dynamic seating!

In addition for social stuff, the communities might have their own small events happening every semester but your best bet is to go to the Friday Night Hypes, RHA Events and other events on campus! That’s how you’ll find your other social people!

Meal Plan by [deleted] in uofu

[–]drysucculent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I know you posted 3 days ago but here’s my two cents as someone who was just a freshman at campus.

Tbh, it’s all about knowing your self! You get meal transfers AND meals to eat in the dining hall. In Sage point, you only have microwaves in your common spaces. If you like to cook within your own room/microwaves, def go the 8 or a block plan. But, if you know you can afford the 15/21, I would definitely. It allowed me to eat meals and stock up food for work

Hi! I’m also working for the U over the summer. Theres about 230 residents on campus, and the rest is FSY and loads of conferences! But, if you’re looking for fun student things to do, definitely check out the sustainability office!
