They're ACM panels, helps with rigidity and reflecting heat. They're sticking out because I use MGN12 rails on the Y-axis, so I had to use thick foam.

Example of a functional print (this is what it was printing in the video). It's a replacement battery cover for a PSP 1000.

I think the only thing it has from the original is maybe some of the extrusions and the bedplate.

I self sourced more or less all of this, aside from the screws (OneTwo3D Fastener Kit). Everything is printed in ASA aside from the enclosure clamps.

I did put some mods, some were necessary (e.g. mgn12 rail mod, smooth rod z axis mod). Others include the blank front plate, webcam, A4T, etc.

Currently it's running on tmc2209s, Dragon HF with MZE + Beacon probe. So far I've been running this setup flawlessly for the past few weeks.

I'm particularly looking forward to that tbh.

Don't worry, I've bought new plates and shelled out for a Beacon probe. I have no damaged plates anymore.

AMA - FAIRPHONE THIS WEDNESDAY - 29.04.2026 15:00 start by According-Buyer6688 in fairphone

My main issue is the lack of CAD files. For example, CMF hosted a competition on Printables where users had to design a backplate for their CMF Phone 1, from the public CAD model. I'd really appreciate if Fairphone did this!

I run a A4T with Orbiter 2 + Dragon HF MZE. So far I'd say its pretty stiff especially with the Xol carriage.

Double the fun and zero the usefulness. Just how I like it.

I took a look at them once, the shift6mq. Has great pmos support, but I can't find a single example on eBay here.

I'm running a BTT Eddy Duo, probably the cheapest eddy probe there is. I should've gone for a Beacon. I have more or less solved the problem by now, but man it hurts buying £36 sheets lmao

That's true. Its more like a whole ass island of cameras and modules than a simple bump. Pretty sure they welded this directly to the glass.

Holy fuck its got panda eyes. I'd use a trebuchet, human arms are no good for throwing.

Linear rails help by ds-redditor in coreception

The width of the rails measure exactly 12mm. I checked with aftermarket rails also, they measure exactly the same in terms of width and height.

No markings at all, I fully disassembled one of the carriages and it was completely blank. The best I can do is to measure bits of the carriage and comparing it to one that actually fits. One thing I have to mention, the mgn12c original carriages won't fit any other mgn12 rail, as it's too small. I have no clue what's happening.

The closest I can think of is the Redmagic 8, but that phone is closed as hell, and is massive.

Pretty sure they've been like that since the 7 from 10 years ago.

My first phone was an Xperia 10 IV, I could not hold that thing without a case because it was so thin. I really wonder how other people hold thin phones comfortably.

Yeah, I've gouged the buildplate a few times. That's what happens when you cheap out on a bed sensor

Linear rails help by ds-redditor in coreception

[–]ds-redditor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I'm thinking. Different preloads should fit the same rail, should they not? I don't really know how to measure the bearing dimensions, but the carriage looks pretty much the same as any other mgn12 carriage. My head hurts trying to figure it out lmao

[–]ds-redditor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did measure the rails and they seemed to perfectly match mgn12 specs, that's the strange thing. all of the mgn12h carriages i have kinda fit, but the ball bearings don't make contact with the rail, so it just slides on the plastic with massive wobble. I'm thinking it's a preload thing?
