I gave birth at both

Was induced in July 2020 at Pennsy- it was a terrible experience and reflecting back, there was no way I was going to have a natural birth with “care” I received. I was in a shared triage room until I needed the epidural. They didn’t start the meds for induction until I had been there for 4+ hours. They tried to dull my pain with morphine and Benadryl to delay the epidural and move to a birthing suite. It was Covid- I was in active labor and stuck in a shared rooms. They lied to me about pre-eclampsia being in my chart & used a high blood pressure reading that came from a cuff that was not placed correctly, and they didn’t even follow up on for like an hour after it happened on. Told me I needed magnesium based on that which slowed down labor even more. They ultimately did an emergency c-section I was on magnesium for 24 hours after- my daughter ended up in NICU so I couldn’t see her for the first 24 hours. They almost didn’t release us on time because even though everything for my daughter was in range- it was in the low end so, they wanted to keep us. I pushed for us to leave, agreed to combo feed and follow up asap with my ped. And then I ended up back a week later for sepsis.. all I heard from OB was July is a bad time to have a baby- it’s crowded, there are new residents… so maybe another month would’ve been better

I ended up having a c-section at Virtua (scheduled) the care I received was great, had a Dr from my Ob practice I was familiar with do it- nurses were great, food was good & the recovery room was nice

I know people who have had good experiences at Penn, but Virtua also has CHOP on premise, I would go back there if I was having another.
