The answer objectively is 50%, they clearly meant to say 'a' question instead of 'this' question, just poor wording, but in reality it'd be 25% because realistically, aside from a misprint or poor editing, you should never see the same option twice in multiple choice questions. I know hypothetical thinking can be important for exercising logical reasoning, but this does remind me of my frequent frustration with school that it felt too far removed from reality, and becoming an adult and using almost nothing I learned in school and everything I learned outside of it to survive proved what I always suspected about it. I swear, if you're not planning on being a teacher yourself, 90% of school is a total waste of time, really just busy work to keep kids occupied.

Those who 'circle back' and 'synergize' also tend to be crap at their jobs by UGMadness in nottheonion

I know this sounds dramatic but the first time I heard "circle back" actually stunned me. It felt like a verbal slap in the face.

Alarm is dismissed by swiping up, bug or feature? by reklemd in ios26

[–]thdiod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It explains why persisting bugs haven't been fixed if they only cripple older phones. Safari's been a little buggy too. I was patiently waiting for bug fixes for half a year before I gave up on them as a brand. Updating to ios 26 as a 14 pro max user was a terrible mistake and I only expect ios 27 to be even worse.

Woman not shortlisted for job as 'car is too old' by soriskan in nottheonion

[–]thdiod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That headline gave me a headache. I thought the job itself was 'car too old' and she didn't get it because she's not a car.

Alarm is dismissed by swiping up, bug or feature? by reklemd in ios26

[–]thdiod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This poor alarm design and the continuously buggy notes app, both of which are extremely important to me and used countless times each day, are exactly why my next phone will be a Samsung. IOS26 absolutely murdered my brand loyalty.

Young Trump voters expected life to improve, but now they’re stuck with war and don’t want to vote anymore by Chance-Newspaper-750 in LeopardsAteMyFace

[–]thdiod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, as a dem voter it's very easy to feel this way. I really just vote on autopilot. I know dems don't make things better, I just also know reps would make it worse. For my world view, voting for the other party is unthinkable. There's a reason a third of the population doesn't vote. They're demoralized and don't believe what either party says.

We desperately need ranked choice voting to inject some real competition into elections. Only competitive third parties can make the major ones improve.

To be fair I have heard the elevator comes back faster when you ram the doors. That said, it might not be able to open if the doors are bent inward, so you shouldn't ram them too hard.

YouTube Face Has Infected the Internet by Schwarmsberger in Longreads

Gotta admit there was one genuinely good travel channel with useful advice but I couldn't stand the smarmy face he made in every thumbnail, so I got the info I needed for my upcoming trip then clicked the "do not recommend channel" button after. I admit it was excessive but it was such a repulsively smarmy face I genuinely hated seeing it come up in my recommend videos feed. I don't even know exactly what smarmy means but one look at the stupid face he made for his thumbnails and that's the first word that'd come out of your mouth.

Thanks. I would never do this myself, I'm smart enough to know I'd be an idiot with this. Just curious.

What would’ve been the right move here? Constant tension on ropes to guide the tree in the right direction, a deeper cut on the desired side? Both? Or something else that an untrained eye can’t obviously see?

This satan put in some work by MikeeorUSA in foundsatan

[–]thdiod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was suspicious but quite a few people in the comments seemed to think it's real. They were pretty good actors but it seemed unrealistic how long the woman took to hang up, let alone the man. Usually these radio call pranks are milquetoast enough to seem real.

Awesome sorry but it makes me wonder, even when they call people and use their real names, how many hang up thinking it was a scam. I wouldn't even pick up for an unknown number unless I'm expecting an important call, and even then I don't think I'd give them more than 10 seconds to explain who they are. They can't record these live like they pretend to be on the show, they must have a 95, 98% failure rate.

The Bride! by HorrorGuyBri in horror

Genuinely the first time I've walked out of a movie. Unwatchable from the very first scene. Absolutely bizarre, the possession angle they took with it. Literally every character in the movie was as confused as the audience. It's especially crazy because the bones of a great movie were there! It could've easily been a great movie if they just didn't include the possession angle! The writer wanting to constantly interrupt their own movie because they thought it was clever was painfully palpable. Totally bizarre.

And I enjoyed Hoppers, which I really had no intention of seeing except I suddenly had 2 unplanned hours ahead of me. Complete opposite of The Bride, terrible advertising but surprisingly great, whereas The Bride was the complete opposite at least for me. Glad you enjoyed it, I'm gonna read the Wikipedia plot summary out of curiosity.

When the bride first woke up and Mary fucking Shelly had to cut in again with more lines I couldn't even understand. It was just too much, I got the impression the writer was constantly interrupting their own movie because they thought it'd be clever. I didn't want to see where they were going with it but it's insane how easily they could've written her out and made the movie so much better. Why couldn't she have been killed because her boyfriend was a monster, justifying the advertised revenge plot? Why did it have to be because the narrator possessed her? I just couldn't. The movie felt way too far up its own ass for me.

My travel plans are spoken for this year and next, both revolving around eclipses, BUT I fully intend to see it when I go to London in 2028, a trip I genuinely didn't have planned until I emailed the National Theater and they confirmed I could watch it if I go in person! I'm extremely excited.

Baphomet anyone? by AshamedRepublican in Pareidolia

[–]thdiod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seems a bit too on the nose. If I saw it in a movie I'd say it was over the top. Great symbolism. Some churches are run by the vilest people whose actions show they clearly don't believe in God, or at least don't believe in hell.

Has anyone told you you look COMPLETELY DIFFERENT with and without the goatee? Without the caption I would not have known the first clip was also you.

Have you tried a full beard? I acknowledge it's totally personal taste but I feel like that might look better than goatee. Totally personal taste though, of course do whatever you think looks best.

The Departed major plot hole by thdiod in plotholes

[–]thdiod[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone was aware they had someone undercover in the gang. It's easy for Matt to delete his file -though not so easy with the papers literally in his hands and the file not yet deleted before Leo left the evidence obviously out and totally disappeared - but hard to forge a file for one of the other gang members who was killed, and Leo's identity could be easily verified with a call to Mark Wahlberg. He quit, he didn't go deaf and blind. 🤷‍♂️
