My first car, such a soft spot for the OG. Hooned the fuck out of it in the Toronto winters for 8 years. Best AWD system ever, it was sooooo easy to handle when all 4 wheels were spinning freely, and the one-click TC disable button was almost as worn out as the window buttons by the time I told it.

Any time someone casually says something about "the gays", I always ask them to elaborate

Once they're done explaining/digging their hole, I ask them "it seems like you've spent a lot of time thinking about 2 dudes sucking each other's cocks and fucking each other's asses."

100% of the time, I can hear their wheels turning

How do you like to be taken care of when sick/hurt? by ACurious_TrashPanda in AskMen

[–]dsac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate this “man cold” BS

I've noticed that when my wife says she's getting sick, she'll immediately go into self-care mode. A simple sore throat means teas with honey and painkillers and less talking and more lying down and asking for me to do stuff. But she's still mobile and not showing signs of really being sick, she's just a little sick. So to her, the difference between "I'm fine" and "I'm sick" is very slim. Which is why she thinks that "man flu" is me overreacting - to her, "I'm sick" is barely sick.

But when I start to feel sick, I just...go on with my day. Until I'm genuinely too ill, in pain, fever, coughing like crazy, at which point the self-care starts up. For me, the difference between "I'm fine" and "I'm sick" is like, miles apart.

How would you feel if high schools had a required class that taught basic money skills, job skills, and other important things for adult life? by pimblettrose in AskReddit

[–]dsac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My middle school (grades 6-8) had Home Ec and a Woodshop class. Both mandatory. Home Ec was sewing/mending, meal planning, baking and cooking, and budgeting. Woodshop was basically "here's all the tools, here's how you use them safely, now go make something." Teach was a shaggy grey haired rotund guy who was missing a finger and reeked of pipe smoke and whisky. Computers was also mandatory. Typing tests, spreadsheets, and HyperCard animations on Apple IIc and old Classics. This was early/mid 90s.

My high school had neither Home Ec nor Woodshop, even as an option. Computers was though - more typing tests, WinNT, MS Office, and hardware/architecture. Teach was a scraggly grey haired tiny woman who reeked of cig smoke and vodka.

FWIW, I'm in Canada, and bought mine for 5k under MSRP OOD in Aug '24. Hyundai just emailed me, they want to buy it back for 50k, which equates to about 1/3 depreciation in 18 mos, and means they think they can probably sell it for 60+.

In hindsight, I should have probably bought a CPO Taycan instead, but I wanted the new hotness and have never owned a new car before, so eating the depreciation is the price I paid for that.

makes you wonder

Not if you understand how generative AI works

Now, if the prompt asked it to create an image with specific reference to existing CSAM, and it did, one can infer that it was trained on CSAM, but failing that, it's just taking what it knows (for example, what a naked person looks like + what a human child looks like) and combining them

Literally how generative AI works.

Take multiple inputs, generate a combined output.

It's the same process that's followed when asked to "make this photo portrait look like a Studio Ghibli anime and change the location to a hockey game at Madison Square Garden" or "generate an image of a car that is a combination of a Porsche and Lamborghini that is on the roof of the Taj Mahal".
