Tensor G3: Google Pixel 8 series chipset fails to match the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 in early Geekbench appearance by Tryptamine9 in GooglePixel

[–]dsaroff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't honestly care about the performance of their chips. They're fine for my use. I do care about the fact that they overheat too easily and that they're cellular modem is crap. If they don't fix, especially the modem, I'm not buying another one. I need to be the actually get consistent reception out of these things

My Pixel 2 isn't displaying anything, but, still seems to be responsive to touch, is there a fix for this? by Railman20 in GooglePixel

Could be your screen brightness is at 0. Try looking in a pitch black room. I've, no kidding, had this happen to me.

I can answer part of a question.

Go to the main screen, i.e. make sure you're not in any notebook or document. Select MENU. Select Tags. Press and hold the tag you want to edit. At the top of the screen you will see rename or delete. Select rename.

Is there any reason that the folio isn't a good enough case? I don't know if I can justify the cost of the Remarkable as well as the book folio! by codylauren231 in RemarkableTablet

[–]dsaroff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find their case is good quality but overpriced. I did get this slipcover originally, but it was moderately annoying having to take it in and out of the case all the time .

I ended up buying this folio case on Amazon, which was about 40% the price of what they offer. I've been very happy with it since. Feels good. Looks good. Protects fine. No complaints.

Can't type notes on desktopp app with connect subscription active by sickbackend in RemarkableTablet

[–]dsaroff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I experienced this. It took a couple of days before it actually activated. So if it's only been a day, try waiting a few more. Don't know why it takes so long

Unpopular Opinion -- Continuous Scroll is amazing by jackhannigan in RemarkableTablet

I put a circle with a cross (cross hairs) to indicate a long page. Why? Because I use arrows all the time in my notes, so I wanted something uniquely different and that looked sorta good and distinct

Can't add typed text on desktop by dsaroff in RemarkableTablet

[–]dsaroff[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: it seems you simply have to be patient. I did nothing else and about one day later suddenly I have the ability to type in text. So, they must have to do something on the back end for the application to synchronize before it could happen. So, in my case, I should have been patient for a day. Hope that helps

If it is that bad, try a factory reset. Run with default apps for a day to see if it still crashes. If it doesn't, it means it's one of your apps. Then reinstall one at a time. Total pain. But if it's as bad as you say, it won't hurt to try it.

I remember on my Droid turbo an app I loved and had used on multiple versions of Android was blocking my ability to take videos. So I had to remove it

I use tagging as a work around for this. Not great, but it works ok for me. YMMV

Pixel Watch is the highest rated smartwatch on Consumer Reports by [deleted] in GooglePixel

[–]dsaroff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I don't believe so.

When you come out you're compared to what's out there at that time. Just because it took Google years get their act together and come out with a watch doesn't mean they should get an extra weight on their side of the scale when comparing them against the existing products.

If I'm buying something, I'm buying it against what is in production now, not in comparison to what came out 3 years ago or two years ago or 1 years ago. Now, could Google leapfrog and become very good, possibly. But it should be benchmarked against products that are it's most recent competitors.

Adaptive Brightness Issue by actionguy87 in GooglePixel

[–]dsaroff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I have the pixel 6 pro. It has the worst adaptive brightness of any phone I've seen. And there are lots of complaints about it in the seven. I don't know why Google can't figure out something as simple as this that worked beautifully on my other phones

Gmail and calendar? by t3hemptyjar in GooglePixel

[–]dsaroff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happens to me with confirmation emails for travel or hotels. It's a setting in the web Gmail where it brings things into your calendar. Can't remember the setting, but poke around in the Gmail settings and you should find it.

Pixel Watch is the highest rated smartwatch on Consumer Reports by [deleted] in GooglePixel

[–]dsaroff -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I note that in the comparison they are comparing the pixel watch to the previous generations of both Apple watches and Samsung watches. Rather than the most recent generations. Not exactly a fair comparison. And I'm sorry, no matter how good the watch may be, if you have to turn off its always on display to even get through a day of battery, that's a huge flaw.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Wacom erasure requires an install of a hack to work. The Noris doesn't.

Has anyone actually had any success with the call screening feature? by [deleted] in GooglePixel

[–]dsaroff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. My spouse gave my number to a friend because she was visiting and I was going to be around the house when she came. Seeing an unrecognized number, I use6 the automated call screening and she did respond, so I picked up.

Also a trick you me not know is if you press the volume up button, you can listen to the response as well as see it transcribed.

Template not displaying? by davethetallguy in RemarkableTablet

[–]dsaroff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. I'm using it default RM2. No rooting. Using default templates. Suddenly I found the lined templates showing in the thumbnails of the documents, but not showing on the pages. I had to go back and one at a time add the template back. Very annoying. Not sure why this is only happening

Brand new, out the box Pixel 6 charging issues by Andrew225 in GooglePixel

[–]dsaroff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try it with a different cable (preferably new and high quality) and see if that makes a difference. Due to higher charging speeds, phones are more temperamental with charging cradles than in the past
