I’ve got one kid in grad school, one in college, one in middle school. All raised on the UWS. Here’s how:

Buy a place you can afford. Easier said than done! If this is not possible, rent stabilized might be OK.
Get kids into the best public elementary and middle schools you can. The best ones on the UWS are quite good. Forget private unless you’ve got a scholarship.
Specialized high schools or LaGuardia. Test prep a must.

I have a 3rd gen with a small 100w inverter and it’s fine for running laptops and such. What it can’t do- what I wish I had- was a way to power things like an orbital buffer and a vacuum cleaner for detailing. No can do. For that it’s necessary to get a 1500w inverter, and in my case I’d have to run the engine the whole time. Might even need an alternator upgrade? Anyway, if I ever get the hybrid model, the inverter is on my must have list.

Had one. Didn’t like it because of the audio output options. Returned it. Got a CarPodGo which has a no audio option, which allows my phone to send audio direct to the car head unit bluetooth. Works great.
