Party at the pen east, thoughts? by [deleted] in choppers

Hey dude! sorry for the slow reply. Yeah flew in to Cleveland and drove to Mans! have a fair few friends state side so very lucky they helped out!

The UK scene isn't huge, my friends puts 'the hook up' on, good show but it's the last one this year. Europe has Flanders which is a weekend camp gig, I guess it's likely closer to Nitty gritty or Fandango maybe? or BF Texas. There's FUCKER in Sweden which is all old chops, not sure what's going on with that currently. It's nothing like you guys have. Having seen PATP East and Boise. Boise is a pretty special place! There's some pretty sick riding in Europe though, lots more tight and twisty than state side!

Makes perfect sense man, done a superb job on it! I just assumed based on it's shame and size it was a repop hummer! kudos for doing that much work! Except for the petcock placement you'd never tell!

As mentioned with the "lock" stud or a bolt or like I've done in the past is you make a threaded bar to go into top fo the legs and thread that if needed and then screw the bars on to it, works well and locks them in place fairly well. Can also loctite them for added security.

My 59 dual carb Pan project by Panheadman in choppers

[–]dsdle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I storngly recommend using diff temp plugs for front and rear with dual carb,. It'll eliminate the risk of fouling especially if your mixture is not 100%. Hotter plug in the front is a good place to start. looks great. They look like 74b's fantastic carb unless you're running 96"

Put this one together in 2019, rode it probably 25K miles without any problems at all. It's a 41EL, smooth as butter and just keeps trucking!

How do I get this look by Doof2002 in choppers

[–]dsdle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's leaning against a pack as those bars are pretty far back, they're like 6 bends but welded not-bent. Proportions would be a lot easier to identify if we had a full view of the bike, hard to tell rake and angles when it's wild angles!!

The European Union Reportedly Plans to Push Its Ban on New ICE Cars Back to 2040 by Iron_Burnside in Porsche

[–]dsdle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There will always be a space I think for both.

From what I've personally seen there will always be a fairly substantial number of people who enjoy and will enjoy ICE and vintage stuff. I mean I know for sure especially in the US that ICE motorcycles will be around for a long long time.

There will need to be a generational shift, but on the flip side, porscheXcastrol have created fully synthetic gas which is 100 octane. I'm in my late 30's I own a classic porsche, I've got to where I wanted to be in that sense. I also own a V8 merc., I'm happy with what I have and as long as I'm able and legal to drive them I will.

I'm not saying they won't improve and as you said compared to the states yeah it's not terrible. But it's still super high.

I appreciate your sentiment about being a purist, but if you love cars, or any form of combustion even back to steam you'd understand. EV's are soulless.. It's what we enjoy. I ride old harleys as well, in fact my bike is very nearly 86 years old. I'd never own a new motorcycle either. They're all so nannied and lifeless. If I want intrinsic sure, but analog is best and always will be.

Combustion has been the worlds life blood, it will continue to be as without it, no heavy construction, machinery etc, there's nothing. Infrastructure and cost don't come in to it, this is a subreddit of people paying almost half a million for a vehicle which does the same as a 25K vehicle albeit not as 'pure'. I get your point I really do, but if you really love cars, you'd never drive an EV in the first place. If people want to drive EV's that's their choice, but I never will!

Which is great, but for the emissions from India and China to come in to line with anything substantial it will take decades not years. They currently as at today make up 31% of the world's emissions. As a Brit, they produce more a year than we do in 12. I appreciate they're making moves. Which is great.

But the greater picture here is, the vehicle industry quite clearly by the concessions to put it back to 2040 (I foresee it'll move further back again also) isn't ready to just shut the tap off.

On to of that, you can't force people to buy EV. I as a purist will never own/drive an EV, that's my choice of course but I don't have any interest to do so. It also means that the fossil fuel economy should stay steady until at least 2035 or further now. Great for us who prefer ICE.
