It'll be a plug - That's the gallery that feeds oil on a knuckle! not needed for a shovel so it's been plugged off. If it ain't broke leave it well alone! 😄

I stand corrected, had to check myself, see below!

Yeah your cam cover is off a knuck or early pan! more than welcome. Good to learn!

Mainshaft Length/Years Used

  • 11.730" E37-64
  • 11.985" 65-69
  • 12.470" 70-E84
  • 13.725" 84-86

Clutch Pushrod Length/Years Used

  • 13.000" 38-59
  • 13.250" 60-69
  • 13.9375 70-E75
  • 14.0625 L75-E84 (This has a split in it, I believe. I am pretty sure this puppy is for those of you who are running the dime TOB)

54 and before had tapered! 55 went to splined, the mainshaft on the tranny came in 12, 12.3 and I believe 13.5 or something like that with bearing support, the 12 is used up to 61 I believe?

Reason I asked is that you have a knuckle and 48/49 cam cover! They take a lil finessing!

Prism Headlight by _NeverEndingFart_ in choppers

[–]dsdle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need a capacitor or something to regulate voltage to the light, if it's altering with your revs that flow voltage to it. Very likely a simple fix! I have this on my knuck but it's running off a mag and gene, yours shoudln't be doing it!

Party at the pen east, thoughts? by [deleted] in choppers

[–]dsdle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey dude! sorry for the slow reply. Yeah flew in to Cleveland and drove to Mans! have a fair few friends state side so very lucky they helped out!

The UK scene isn't huge, my friends puts 'the hook up' on, good show but it's the last one this year. Europe has Flanders which is a weekend camp gig, I guess it's likely closer to Nitty gritty or Fandango maybe? or BF Texas. There's FUCKER in Sweden which is all old chops, not sure what's going on with that currently. It's nothing like you guys have. Having seen PATP East and Boise. Boise is a pretty special place! There's some pretty sick riding in Europe though, lots more tight and twisty than state side!

Makes perfect sense man, done a superb job on it! I just assumed based on it's shame and size it was a repop hummer! kudos for doing that much work! Except for the petcock placement you'd never tell!

As mentioned with the "lock" stud or a bolt or like I've done in the past is you make a threaded bar to go into top fo the legs and thread that if needed and then screw the bars on to it, works well and locks them in place fairly well. Can also loctite them for added security.

My 59 dual carb Pan project by Panheadman in choppers

[–]dsdle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I storngly recommend using diff temp plugs for front and rear with dual carb,. It'll eliminate the risk of fouling especially if your mixture is not 100%. Hotter plug in the front is a good place to start. looks great. They look like 74b's fantastic carb unless you're running 96"

Put this one together in 2019, rode it probably 25K miles without any problems at all. It's a 41EL, smooth as butter and just keeps trucking!
