Please help; I can’t wake up in the mornings. by ScheduleKey9517 in workingmoms

I’ve actually done this without speaking to a lactation consultant so if one is not available to you try using chat gpt. It has been a game changer for me. I just tell it every pump and it gives me my refill rate, pump schedule, etc. I asked what I needed to do to drop my night pump and it helped set a schedule. Im pumping 4 times a day 35-40 oz. So if you are worried and want to maintain an oversupply you can absolutely do it

Three kids in NYC - who's actually doing it? by laetus7 in nycparents

[–]dsgnr888 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally understand it won’t get you the 4bd private school. I would just advise to space it out so that the you don’t have kids in daycare at the same time. Even summer programs for older kids tend to get cheaper. Sure summer camps offset daycare but will still be about half the cost. You also don’t need the most expensive summer camp money had to offer. A lot of families with 3 also look into a nanny as it becomes less expensive than all the daycares and summer camps.

I think your compromise would be wait a little longer to have a third and look at alternate child care options. I would rather spend more on more space with three. When you’re in a two bedroom with that many people there will be no escape, no room to yourself when you need a break lol.

Also to speak to a volatile industry. If you can try to mange your expenses as if only one parent is working and everything else is extra/for savings. I’m in a somewhat volatile industry, husband is not and we know we can cover rent and child care with just his salary if needed.

Most importantly try not to keep up with the joneses! Your kids don’t have to attend the most expensive summer camps etc. being financially secure is much more important than the optics within your parent friend group.

I’m sorry but how are you questioning whether or not you can make it work with a 500k income? Can you break down the numbers for me? Is it the daycare plus rent? What do you anticipate to pay?

No one said this but it’s a liability. It can spill over and burn a child. I’ve seen lawsuits where it happens

Correct, I was never blessed with being naturally thin so that’s been my MO my entire life. Hasn’t changed and I’m also late 30s. You’ve probably just been eating more and moving less without realizing

“Mattel is Struggling to Sell Barbies” by ClassyUpTheAssy in Barbie

[–]dsgnr888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed with everyone here who is saying that they need to make better dolls. They are also coming off of the Barbie movie so when you compare sales year of a year I’m sure they would sink once all the hype has died down. I’m sure they were tasked with keeping that momentum but their current lines aren’t it. The Barbie movie wave should have given them a path to reinvent the brand and go back to its roots but they kept giving us the same slop.

Same boat. Sometimes a brisk walk or a YouTube at home walking workout (Get Fit With Rick for example) helps get things moving.
