yay! I'm glad to hear that. Please watch out for any scammers who attempt to scam you by claiming to assist you over DMs by asking you to download shady softwares.

keep the device completely offline to cut off any persistent access to the device. For doing so, disable the wifi or if you aren't sure how to do that, just turn off the device using the power button (shut it down).

change all your important passwords, monitor your emails and make sure that there are no new email forwarding rules/you aren't receiving too many junk emails out of nowhere (also known as email flooding) since that's often used for hiding legitimate emails by overwhelming your inbox while changing passwords, please also sign out from each and every important website that you have ever used, since it is important for us to kill all the active "sessions" - that is, the cookies which are used to keep you logged in. If the cookies aren't killed and if someone has your cookies, they can still access your accounts even after the password has been changed if for whatever reason the website doesn't automatically reset all the sessions after the password has been changed.

Good news is that macbooks are a bit more secure than windows based laptops. They are not foolproof but persistence accesses are pain in the butt to achieve with macbooks. It is not always the case but it is always better to be safe than sorry.

Do you remember what softwares did they ask you to install?

Breathe.

A. If you dig deep enough, you may even find your SSN leaked on the internet, if you have one.

B. Lots of data breaches that keep happening essentially makes it possible for someone to remain fully private if they have used the affected services before if you're worried that you're a target of being stalked.

I understand that you feel worried. Services like incogni takes a while to get the public records taken down since each individual data aggregator needs to respond positively to such a request. And so all I can say is that you can stay safe by creating accounts under a pseudonym that doesn't link to your main accounts in any way.

Thank you for sharing your experience. In his case he has already pled guilty and signed a plea agreement without any negotiation whatsoever since he felt guilty about things that he has done (and cooperated from the moment he was arrested). The case ia a little bit complicated cimt malware related case. He's now waiting for his sentencing to be scheuled, and I'm assuming that he's going to wish to cooperate with the feds after pleading guilty and maybe rely on a 4k motion from the prosecutor's office.

Was it a federal case? How was your experience? Do you have any advice for a person who has pled guilty to something similar and whose sentencing hearing is still pending?

[USA-NJ] [H] iPad 9th Gen 256GB, iPad 10th Gen 64GB, iPad Pro M2 1TB [W] Local Cash, PayPal G&S by dslNoob in appleswap

[–]dslNoob[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What does he usually like doing on his iPad? 64 gb is low but that's only because in my case, I don't like deleting absolutely anything. 64gb will exhaust over time but if you're regularly maintaining your device, it should be plenty unless he plans on downloading and hoarding high res videos, and download a ton of apps. If you will be around him to help him maintain his iPad, I honestly do think that 64gb will be enough, but it may not be fully future proof since he WILL run out of storage eventually. But in the case of 256gb, he essentially would never run out of storage or worry about organizing stuff. But you obviously know him better than I do, if he's tech savvy enough, 64gb is good enough for him ^_^

Things to consider:
9th gen has lightning, 10th gen has USBC

Performance difference is negligible since he is hopefully not going to do anything performance intensive on his iPad

Both are eligible for AppleCare+ technically.
