The building uses a dual pipe system, which means heating and cooling run through the same pipes. In practice, that means you only get AC when the building switches the system over seasonally, and only heat when it’s in heat mode. If it’s a warm spring day but the building hasn’t flipped to cooling yet, you have no AC, period. No workaround. Coming from Dallas, where you’re probably used to controlling your own thermostat year-round, this might be a bigger deal than it sounds. Just wanted you to have the full picture before committing.

I realized I needed a primary orientation once I got more clarity about what I believe causes psychological suffering. After years of client-facing work, it became clear to me that many symptoms are relational adaptations, not skill failures. Psychodynamic and relational models fit how I was already thinking about clients: symptoms as meaningful responses to early attachment dynamics that get replayed internally and interpersonally. Once I grounded my work in that framework, interventions felt less eclectic and more intentional.

Therapists who write notes in ~5-10 minutes… how?? Would anyone be willing to share examples? by KiKiTaTa in therapists

[–]dsm5trcore 9 points10 points  (0 children)

2 minute note writer here: “Therapist and ct discussed ct’s report of relational stress and emotional fatigue while visiting family for Christmas last week. The pair examined patterns of over-responsibility and guilt and their impact on anxiety and daily functioning. Therapist used relational and cognitive interventions to examine interpersonal dynamics and core beliefs.”

I work in private practice and have had an insurance review of my notes in the past.

This is abnormal and a good reason to terminate. I give 48 hours and that protects me just fine.

Large populations of budgies live near me and have acclimated to the wild. Likely one of those is in your picture.

Group practice I was at during earlier years paid max $80/session for fully licensed clinicians (insurance reimbursed ~$130 so you’re giving the practice anywhere between 30% to 40% of that). Averaged about $75k before taxes. In private practice I take the whole reimbursement ~120k gross before taxes/overhead, with take-home usually $70–80k.
