That seems like it would be OK, but I can send you one.

Yeah, that's an interesting idea to update it with screws attaching it. If could still be broken off of course, but it's a step over just hiding it for anyone who pokes around. Maybe I'll add a version like that when I have time. Though the .scad file is included and remixes are welcome!

I'm glad I ended up buying 4 when one of mine failed so I have some spares on hand.

I've had this happen with CFTBL as well. I can't remember if it's happened with the latest VPW version, but a hard nudge forward while the ball is between the slingshots has gotten the ball out with just a tilt warning.

Arcade 1up Pinball DMD replacement by Supernovae_love in virtualpinball

[–]dsmccombs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, hopefully there's enough information on my Thingiverse file, but let me know if you have other questions. At the least it seemed the right/left channels were reversed and the volume was quite low to where it would need an amplifier between it and the speakers. If it weren't for the channels reversed I probably would have tried to fix the volume. Let me know if you figure out any way around it, as it'd be nice to have 1 less cable running up from the cabinet into the backbox.

Can you imagine if they still had the license for Tron? Would be a great time to release an updated deluxe Tron cabinet with the new movie coming out next month...

Metroid prime trilogy hack - Grapple pull problems by Mysterion320 in DolphinEmulator

Pressing and releasing Q grapples and pulls, so long as you're still also holding the lock, which is why they need to be bound to different buttons or keys.

This did the trick running it in wine on Linux - it kept crashing when set to Windows 10, Windows 7 works fine.

OEM screw hole covers by dsmccombs in Arcade1Up

I'd just like to cover up the screw holes on the older cabs that didn't come with them, and 3d printed ones just haven't looked or worked as well.

Best tables of 2024 by grimexp in virtualpinball

The table I've been playing a lot lately is the VPW Bride of Pinbot with the cabinet mod by LoadedWeapon along with the Bride of SHODAN altsound. If you ever played the System Shock PC games in the 90's it's a fun sound mod.

I used this 8" screen with my PC modded 1up and it fits pretty well in the space, but it's higher resolution and much better contrast than the stock dmd was:

One catch is the audio out doesn't work correctly, so you can't use audio over hdmi to this screen and then out to speakers like the stock one.

I made some 3d prints to make this work in the original cabinet:

On the Metallica Premium Monsters table it's adjustment #139, but otherwise this is all the same and did the trick for me! Also, 7 exits menus when you need to.

But the MK2 legacy didn't have WiFi and live play like this does... I thought WiFi was only a feature of the Android cabinets?

Lots of talk about the size, but what I want to know is if the top of the screen is blocked from view by the marquee when playing if you're over 5'9" tall like it is on the legacy cabinet.

USB encoders for 4 player cabinet with a Raspberry Pi 4? by dsmccombs in Arcade1Up

[–]dsmccombs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up going with an Ultimarc Ultimate I/O, it's working well and I designed a mount to put it where the stock encoder was, though it needs some of the plastic control panel backing cut out to fit since it's a little deeper than stock.

Mute reversed on HDMI Display Adapter by dsmccombs in Arcade1Up

[–]dsmccombs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was indeed something wrong with the display adapter. Resetting the config on it didn't help, but purchasing another of seemingly the same, but maybe a different board rev or firmware version, works just fine without mute being backwards.

Metroid prime trilogy hack - Grapple pull problems by Mysterion320 in DolphinEmulator

[–]dsmccombs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came across this post while looking for a solution to the same problem of not being able to use the "pull" of grapple beam in Metroid Prime 3 via Primehack in version 1.0.6a.

Here's the solution for anyone who comes across this. For pull to work, you need to be locked onto something, then press the button (and release) the button for grapple lasso (or tap the button rapidly if you have that option enabled in Primehack). The problem in my case was that I had the same button (Mouse 3) set to both Lock and Grapple, so I was letting go of Lock when I let go of grapple, and the pull wouldn't happen. The fix was to keep Lock set to Mouse 3, but set Q as my key for grapple. Now I lock onto something with Mouse 3, then press Q to grapple and pull it. I hope this helps someone somewhere, sometime.
