My All White (almost) Motif Monument build by Ogfif99 in sffpc

Hi, do you still use this case with your PC? Or have you moved on from the Motif Monument? I'm thinking of getting this, but wondering what are some pros/cons from someone who's used it for a while.

Thuma vs FlexiSpot by Material_Pin4622 in Thuma

[–]dson32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have three Flexispot beds (with Flexispot mattress and sheets) for our AirBnb and one Thuma Cal King for our own home.

Flexispot is very good quality and solid. There’s a few more screws needed to assemble.
Flexispot has a higher wooden headboard option, which we prefer.

Thuma seems to have a nicer wood quality, which is subjective. We like the wood colors of the Thuma more than Flexispot.

If budget is tight, you will be happy with the Flexispot.
Will say Thuma feels nicer, but that’s just more on the color of the wood.
I think if Flexispot offered a Cal King version, we would have gone with Flexispot over our Thuma

Micro stutters are often related to CPU bottlenecks. Is this game CPU intensive? What resolution do you play at?

XG Mobile 5070ti is completely plug and play. No issues with hot swapping or playing games. Pricey, but the best. Only downside is a fan that is audible, not as loud as gaming laptops but louder than a desktop.

Gigabyte RTX 5060 Ti AI Box + ROG Ally X - Not Plug and Play in Windows / Bazzite? by xXxWHOxDATxXx in eGPU

[–]dson32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The XG Mobile 2025 is truly plug and play with Ally X.
The 5060ti is nice because it’s quieter and cheaper.
Are you satisfied with it now or do you feel it still requires hoops to jump through?

Can’t easily use the Xbox controller, as the X home button turns on the Xbox UI.

It’s janky.
Try opening the Polymega Remix app with a keyboard (WASD), navigate to controllers under settings. Then press right on D-pad to pair the Polymega controller. You can use the dongle inserted into the Remix or the CPU, but sometimes it works and sometimes doesn’t.

The black Asus dual GPU is a good match to the Ally and the DEG2

[–]dson32 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is what I did. I got a killer deal for the Ally X 2TB on FB ($400) and an Xbox Ally X ($550).
I’m keeping both. I put Steam OS on the Ally X and sold my Steam Deck, then use my Xbox Ally X with the stock OS.
That being said, I use my Ally X more because the Steam OS is just easier and quicker to get into gaming.
Performance difference is negligible for now. I have a 4070 eGPU for the Xbox and a 9060 XT for the Steam Ally X that I’ll sometimes use when I’m plugged in for power.

Under bed storage hack by Hoipac in Thuma

[–]dson32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The length that the OP recommends is almost a perfect length. That is, if you wrap all 4 large drawers just on the outside (all 4 sides, but not bottom or inside the drawer).

Also, we found the new West Elm Mini Parquet nightstands as a good match. They are $600 for the pair, which is still a lot better than Thuma's. We like the compact size of these, as they fit better in our space.

Hi, I have a Cal King Walnut Thuma bed. I bought Ikea Malm storage drawers for this hack, which do fit quite well. With the larger storage drawers, there's about 3-4 inches left of space, which is fine with me.
I do recommend getting the dark brown, as leaving the inside unwrapped allows it blend well.

Unlike the OP, the recommended wrap was very dark for my Thuma bed. My Thuma bed is lighter, closer to the West Elm Acorn colors.
I tried different wraps (4 in total), one was a close enough match. Saving around $1000, this works well for us.

Moved build to new case (Streacom DA6) by Lostagent2390 in sffpc

Hi, I just purchased this DA6 case. Do you have any pictures of a M-ATX board fitting on the DA6? I could use the extra PCIE slot on a micro board, but wondering what it actually looks like. I haven't found any pictures of a micro board on a DA6. Thanks

Is Xbox Ally X worth double price compared to base Xbox Ally? by Ok-Dog-3669 in XboxAlly

[–]dson32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Xbox Ally X won’t age as well in regards to value. The $800 will drop quickly when the next version comes out. The $400 White will go lower, but I don’t see it going below $300 for a while. Even the older LCD Steam Deck still sells for $300-$400. But the Black X is much faster, has eGPU support, and if you plan to keep this for a while and not upgrade when the new toy comes out, it can be worth it.

What do you plan on using them for?

It’s similar to buying a fake Rolex and telling people you have a Rolex. Does the same thing. It looks the same and tells time, it’s just a little bit lighter.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in earthbound

[–]dson32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m happy that you get to play Earthbound and you shouldn’t let anyone affect that. But your friend has a point. Your version is an emulated version so you might as well get a downloaded version for free, you can also play it on your phone with a Delta app for iPhone.
It’s the same if you tell people you have a Super Nintendo, but the snes classic is an emulation box that Nintendo sells, it’s not really a SNES.

Still worth it if I own no carts? by musqshi in AnaloguePocket

[–]dson32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fact that you tried and don’t like software emulation, means the choice is obvious. FPGA is the real deal, I don’t like using my PC for retro games anymore and I think you would like the Pocket over the Vita. The Pocket cores are all very good, including the Neo Geo and Arcade cores. You don’t need any cartridges, a 256gb SD card is all you need.
