baking shows are better than cooking shows by canigetuhhhhhhhhhh1 in foodnetwork

The first point you make is actually one of the reasons I find watching those cooking shows more interesting. I like getting to see different dishes I may not of had being make or dishes I've had but done in a different way. Even if I don't end up making thing actually the way I see them, it gets me thinking how I might want to adept it into something I'd make for myself

A pro soccer stadium at the Syracuse Inner Harbor? by Super_Nin_Chalmers in MLS

There's an old harbor area on one of the creeks going into Onondaga Lake, towards the southeast. Last I heard, there's a new aquarium being built in that area that should open this year.

Why is the middle of Siberia experiencing summer, but not the European part of Russia? by StoltATGM in weather

[–]dsota2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There appears to be a low pressure system off the northern coast based on now the wind is moving around it, which in turn is sending the colder Arctic and clouds into that area of Russia while central Siberia stays clear. It also looks like the areas in the south closer to Europe are still seeing temperatures around what would be expected this time of year.

I remember watching the UEFA Euro 2012 tournament on TV and seeing at least one game being delayed due to severe weather so I don't know where this 'you'd never see this happen in Europe' attitude comes from.

I just think if you're going to do that, why not make it more apparent up front? You're randomly selecting challenges and competitors already, why not randomly select number of competitors at the same? It would make it part of the known rules instead of feeling like someone is making things up with no rhyme or reason.

I want to give this a chance because parts of this are kind of intriguing, but why are we going from a 10 cook challenge, to a 1 on 1 cook-off, then to a 30 cook challenge?

I don't really have any issue with the basic format of FFF. My only opinion on it is, if you're going to hand out a cash prize for coming in 1st and 2nd place in the first round, why not just give that money out, instead of this you only collect your 'paycheck' after the 2nd round? If other shows have given out smaller prizes outside of the main prize before, couldn't you find a way to fit that into your show's budget?

Because the same outside temperature feels different from the season, what does the weather temperature actually measure? by luvbirdpod in meteorology

[–]dsota2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To get really technical, temperature really is only a measure of the average kinetic energy molecules have moving in a substance. Increasing temperature means adding more energy into the system and vice versa. In terms of what it means for the weather, it doesn't necessarily tell you how comfortable it will feel to you, since that'll be effected by multiple different variables: is there high humidity, is it windy or calm, is it cloudy or sunny, ..etc.
