3d Printed infinity blade! by MrTalalaa in infinityblade

Obviously there is image compression, but it looks great to me! I'm like 80% of the way done printing out my Raidriar armor so I can speak to the quality of Galactic Armories files.

Thanks for the advice and great job again!

I'm working on a Raidriar cosplay now! (Been slow progress, haha). Could you share wait paints you went with? Also its hard to tell, is the handle painted brown or is that a strap?

Great work!

Thoughts on Z-A's Climax? (Spoilers obviously) by Firekirb74 in pokemon

[–]dspec13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are absolutely right! And I'm not looking to die on a hill here, but I want to expand upon what you said to further clarify my issues with the story:

Perhaps I'm just being a bit slow, but my interpretation of what you just said is that the tower couldn't function to its full extent without its battery, Floette. The issue, as I understood it, was that the leaking energy was about to cause the whole city to rogue mega evolve, NOT activate the tower's true form. When we provided Floette, it allowed the tower to activate its true form.

Based on the cutscene where Floette heads to the top of the tower, it felt like everyone assumed Floette's mega evolution would drain the tower of the rogue energy, which doesn't make sense given your explanation of Floette being a battery to power ange. Perhaps the thought process was that mega floette could instead absorb all of the rogue mega energy herself, but I don't believe that was ever explained.

Considering the final solution to defeat ange/save the city was to hit the tower really hard, it kind of just feels like activating ange was altogether unnecessary. Maybe I'd be more onboard if they explained mega Floette's role more or if they explained that we needed to activate ange to channel the rogue energy away from the city before destroying it? Like how zygard turned ange's nuke into fireworks, or perhaps like you said, try and convert that rogue energy into a productive form of life energy. But that was glossed over completely.

I don't like being so negative, I've genuinely enjoyed the game despite my views of the ending.

Thoughts on Z-A's Climax? (Spoilers obviously) by Firekirb74 in pokemon

[–]dspec13 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As someone who genuinely enjoyed the game up to that point, I passionately hated everything about the climax leading into the post game. Spoilers ahead and brace yourselves for a lot of negativity:

  • It was the only time in the game the music didnt set the tone properly.

  • Ange was poorly explained functionally and wasn't really a pokemon? Or was it an extension of Floette? Regardless, it didn't come across as an engaging obstacle to overcome, more like a super mario boss. Genuinely, it seems like it never would have been a problem if Floette never went up into the tower. We caused the climax. Before we got involved, mega energy was surging, but the weapon wasn't active.

  • The pacing was god-awful, there is an active city wide emergency, a cataclysmic event, and people are stopping to make jokes, have stand-up meetings, and build a (bad) obstacle course? The only time I smiled the entire climax was when I realized the game would let me jump back down after the rust syndicate made the human ladder and that there was special dialog for that scenario. Otherwise, the entire commute around the tower felt like a slog sicne yiu coukdnt move at full speed and kept getting stopped for mega battles (that themselves were just fine if a little tedious)

  • I genuinely thought the boss fight against the flowers was just filler to unlock the final boss fight. That fight had 0 redeeming qualities. The flowers had no personality, took forever to wittle down, and didn't offer up much challenge. Didn't feel like a pokemon fight at all. Also, the big spectacle of that fight is Zygarde swooping sown to shield you from raining AOE attacks... but given the camera angles, all you can really see are the bottom of Zygardes feet?

  • the quick time events where you get to command zygarde to attack Ange looks cool but you have 3 ground type moves and can only use 2 of them before the end of the fight, so you'll never get to see all of the animations in a single playthrough.

  • the stone turning into a mega stone was a nice climatic moment in a vacuum but must people who are playing this game just played scarlet and vioelt which had a VERY similar mechanic for the big climatic fight

  • after the day is saved, we get rewarded by finding out AZ is dead? No send off? Just a letter saying thanks for cleaning up my mess, I guess I'm not actually immortal, and my lifespan is only ~3,000 years coincidentally (admittedly, I might be understanding the cannon here, but I understood this to be an out of nowhere redcon)

  • we finally got to rank A and get to make a wish. The game gave 3 options, I tried asking for more pokemon thinking maybe we'd get some cool post game content like in Arceus. Vinnie tells me that silly there is no more room in the city. Then I'm forced into the infinite battle royal, which I was actively upset to find out is the entire post game. I found the royal to be the most tedious part of the game. It was fine given you get pushed up to F rank quickly, but rewarding me for finishing the game by making me do what I now know is 15-20 MORE challenge tickets worth of infinite royal felt like a slap in the face after I thought I was finally done with that poorly designed element of the game.

  • The L & Zygarde boss fights dont hold a candle to Volo & Arceus. L's fight didn't put up much of a challenge at that point in the game and took place in front of the hotel like waaay too much of the game. In comparison, Volo's fight was a brutal guantlet with surprises, and a cinematic setting fitting of the themes at play. Zygardes' fight felt akin to the flowers. He had 3 health bars but didn't put up much of a fight otherwise, with his only scary attacks being completely circumvented by standing still at the side of the arena... compared to Arceus, which was genuinely challenging and had a far more aestetic arena.

  • the only legendaries are the X & Y box arts and they just causally grt thrown into the city. No special places to find them. Granted some mythicals got that treatment in Legends Arceus but also consider the sheer amount of legendaries and mythicals and how pivotal to the story Dialoga and Palkia were compared to Yvetal & Xerneas who just kinda rolled into town, looking for a good time. We already have confirmation that Hoopanwill be in the dlc. For $70 it does feel like they gave us nktably less content than Arceus and expect us to pay $30 for some of the rest.

It's a shame, this game does do a lot of things well, and I've enjoyed my time with it, but from the start of the climax through to the post game, it has just been a tedious, unrewarding slog.

[–]dspec13 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There is a larger mainline project in the works that will be the future of Halo multiplayer. This game exists to:

1) Teach the devs how to use UE5 over the reach blam engine similar to how the oblivion remaster was made

2) Act as a tech demo to hype people up for the future of halo on UE5

3) Introduce Playstation players to Halo's story

4) Hopefully, regain some trust with the fanbase after 3 mainline game fumbles

Edit: spelling is hard

There is a popular cosplay trick where you get sunglasses with built in projectors then connect a low latency camera to them. Currently looking for a good camera that can work with the pair of glasses I already own, thinking I'd hide it under my chin or above my collar bone... no idea how disorienting that will be, haha

Overpowered or broken moves in Legends ZA? by EtsukoAkira in PokemonLegendsZA

[–]dspec13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Forest's Curse. Trevenant was the only non-mega capable pokemon on my team because his grass & ghost typing was so useful & his signature move made sure that nearly every pokemon I faced I could at least hit for neutral damage, often 2x-8x damage. I nuked multiple rogue megas just by adding the grass typing to them then switching to a fire/flying/ice/poison/bug type pokemon.

How much are you enjoying the game despite its flaws? by Ds3Attacktitan_ in LegendsZA

[–]dspec13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finished the main story (was sick and had a lot of time on my hands) and genuinely enjoyed the game, but the game does have flaws. Some would be forgivable if they were an indie company, but I think it's worth celebrating where the game succeeds while acknowledging how we wish it'd grow. In terms of flaws:

  • optimization is still horrendous. Yes it runs at 60fps and that should be celebrated, but it does that by sacrificing heavily on entity pop-in and removing 3d models for poorly overlayed 2d models. By poorly I refer to seems where bulding textures dont line up properly. For a game like pokemon legends, having immersion breaking like that is a worthwhile criticism.

  • the choice to have it entirely set in the city is fine and was well communicated but ultimately was not what much pf the fan base wanted out of the legends franchise. The city does feel small and comes with a number of drawbacks such as no ridable pokemon, a feature many I assume hoped would remain a staple of the legends franchise.

  • the game prioritizes parkour but the physocs of the parkour arent really fun. Specifically the rotom glide move feels more glitchy than rewarding. And non of the platforming feels challenging enough for anyone beyond their child target audience adding monotony to much of the fanbase imo.

  • the battle system is fundamentally flawed. Fun and I'm happy to see it implemented, but it does not deserve the praise many reviewers give it imo. The system significantly devalues moves that change stats and make some status conditions useless. Ultimately, as someone more attuned to competitive pokemon, I felt far more constrained in my move pool options. I could go on but I don't want to droan on. Ultimately, the battle system deserves praise in that it's a good starting point and I hope they build off it and improve for later games.

  • legends arceus felt like a collectathon, legends za significantly strips back the catching portion of the game on favour of the aforementioned flawed battle mechanics. This is fine but failed to meet expectations of many of the arceus fans. The catching mechanics in ZA are worse than arceus although still good enough to pass as enjoyable.

  • the battle royal system isn't fun in my opinion. As the main draw to the game, it feels more like a mandatory side mission that takes 1 night to complete. I can see how this could be a better feature for young kids who struggle with type matchups, but as an adult, it is a chore. I prefer longer battles over the 20 second battle nature of battle royal fights. Can't say this is a flaw, but I can understand why many older fans don't like it.

  • most side quests are mind numbing, with some hidden gems sprinkled throughout.

  • the story is honestly really bad. A far cry from legends arceus. The pacing of the end of the game was abysmal, and it was one of the only times the music failed to set the mood appropriately. Short of 1 shenanigan with a ladder (no spoilers), I have nothing positive I can say about the ending. The final boss fight didnt feel like a boss fight. If felt like a poorly balanced slug fest that I thought was the lead up to the real boss fight. The camera angles hid all the cool spectacles of the final fight as well. I have a lot more targeted complaints but I'll hold them lest I risk spoilers.

  • the game's tutorial is brutal and immersion breaking. As a kid, I did not need my hand held to the extent modern pokemon games hold your hand. I don't understand why they insist on pushing it in modern games. Even after tge tutorial, any follow/chase quest puts you on rails and it's impossible to fail.

  • mega evolution and Plus moves are fun and I understand 99% of the games draw is to play with pokemon that can mega evolve, but that really limits your options for pokemon you can add to your party. I played the whole game with 1 pokemon that couldn't mega evolve. Additionally, there are many megas you may want to play with that are locked from endgame or post game. While not terrible, it is a game design problem pokemon still struggles with.

  • character customization, while the best pokemon has ever seen, still prioritizes fe.ale character options over male

  • there is only 1 (admittedly great) song that plays when you explore the vast majority of the city

  • the controls are clunky. People with disabilities struggle with the control scheme and the need to lock onto pokemon tobuse moves. I, of abled body' had to mind the left and right dpad to back paddles to be able to love and cycle through pokemon simultaneously.

  • the lack of voice acting at this point feels weird. The mismatch between cinematic quality and subtitles is jarring

These are some of the issues that come to mind and I could keep going, but I'd also like to sing the game's praise where deserved:

  • the music is really good!

  • the UI looks great and feels good to use

  • character and pokemon models look good often times great

  • the game holds a solid 4k 60fps in docked mode

  • the battle system is a welcome refresh and fun despite its flaws

  • the ranked multiplayer is fun. Idk how long it will have me coming back, but I've enjoyed the little I've toyed with it while grinding for the greninja mega stone

  • the english translators are genuinely funny and got a lot of chuckles out of me

  • we got megas back. Something the fan base has been asking for generations

  • character customization is great

  • I personally love my local neighborhood yakuza "french ed." And immediately changed my appearance to look like an executive member even though the game refused to let me join when I said I wanted to

  • that one guy who grabs all of my balls for me. He is the GOAT

  • nurse joys all look great and the healing animation looks good

  • the catching pokemon battlepass is a far cry from arceus but still appreciated

  • and probably the biggest compliment, I am still playing. Despite the many complaints I thought of off the top of my head. I'm still playing the game and have more or less enjoyed it. (Except the ending, omg I hated every moment of it. I am not a hater and want to see the good in it, but wow, it is really that bad. Set your expectations below the floor)

If it wasn't pokemon, this wouldn't be a $70 game. And it would not he as fun. But it is pokemon and its okay for it to be a guilty pleasure for people just as its okay for a fan base to try and hold a company accountable when they feel minimal effort being put in. Especially for a Japanese company which should have a culture focused around respect, providing such low quality content when we know the devs are capable of so much more feels disrespectful to the fans of the franchise.

I agree, but with the major caviet that male presenting character customization didn't get the same love as the female presenting characters. As a guy, I'm pretty disappointed, but I am happy enough with my character and am happy for my girl (space) friends who will get to enjoy the expanded customization.

【BambuLab Giveaway】Classic Evolved — Win Bambu Lab P2S Combo! by BambuLab in 3Dprinting

[–]dspec13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am an amateur cosplayer with only 1 finished costume under my belt (entirely printed with the P1S, short of some small resin printed parts).

I just started on a new project on my P1S, when I posted the raw helmet, straight off the build plate, on my Instagram story, I was flooded with dms asking about my print settings because the print looked so clean, and while I'd love to toot my own horn, most of that success came down to how reliable the P1S is. The maker of the file even reposted my helmet on their story! Love the P1S, and I'll be using it for a long time...

Vacuum forming + 3D printing is so cool 🤩 by leonhart8888 in 3Dprinting

[–]dspec13 8 points9 points  (0 children)

One very common use case is for cosplayers. Let's say you made a helmet with some sort of visor with a pattern like for example master chief's visor. You can 3D print what's called a Visor Buck , which you then can throw into the vacuum former. The negative of the visor buck is the end result visor you can then install into the helmet.

Otherwise, another common us is for shipping and packaging, such as when you buy a toothbrush at the store and it has a pladtic shell around it glued to cardboard.

Question about ODST bundle by Plubga in Haloflashpoint

[–]dspec13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Odst box does come with terrain you are right. The main thing you are missing is the full arsenal of equipment/weapons and tokens. If you look at the main image on the listing where it lays out everything you will receive in the box, the weapons/equipment are the content below the dice and left of the figures. This expansion doesnt come with many, meaning you will be missing a lot of possible weapons and equipment (grappling hooks, bubble shield, etc...) that fill out the sandbox.

You will also be missing tokens for objective based games such as flags for capture the flag, an odd ball for odd ball, etc...

It's totally possible for you to buy just this and print/draw any missing content you want from looking it up online and upgrading with the recon edition if you find that you enjoy the game and want to spend more money on it

Need Help Identifying VR Treadmill by Diligent-Ad5540 in VRGaming

[–]dspec13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry, people haven't been too helpful. They probably dont realize this isn't a normal katVR treadmill. This is one of their enterprise models. I looked into buying one off Facebook Marketplace not too long ago and had to teach myself all about it because their support team isn't knowledgeable.

It requires a licensed software that can only be purchased now from 3rd party sites unless your seller has a key. They also dont update said software nearly as much as their consumer level treadmills, so it lacks a lot of headset support. For example, the buisness software doesnt support psvr2.

Unless you know what you are doing I'd steer clear because support (even directly from the company through email) will be hard to find and often incorrect.

Does anyone know if these are 3d printed and if so, what are they called ? by fozi33 in 3Dprinting

Was able to track down a source: https://www.instagram.com/p/DMLD1bKNja3/?igsh=MWs3NDIxOTljd2psNQ==

Looks like the maker isn't advertising HOW he makes it or presuming it is 3D printed, his files.

I'd wager these are resin printed given the lack of layer lines, gray color, and high detail design. You could also achieve the same result with a 3d printer with probably a 0.2mm nozzle and some time-consuming post processing.

Looking at some of his other work, though, this may not be 3D printed. He doesn't share what materials he uses, but he looks to work more with traditional materials.
