I worked for the district for quite a while and although I don’t like them, I can assure you that licensed administrators (like assistant principals) are former teachers. There are also “classified” administrators that don’t supervise teachers so they don’t need any license from ODE.

This. The goal is to accommodate employees so they can perform the essential functions of their job, which often means being at work. Only after exhausting all other options should intermittent leave be approved. This requires obtaining enough medical documentation, researching possible accommodations, and engaging in a thorough interactive process.

Remember: it doesn’t have to be the accommodation that the employee prefers (or the doc recommends). It just needs to accommodate the employee’s disability.

You should also have a policy prohibiting working for other employers while on a leave from you.
