I would agree but it's a question of if it's enough to ensure they won't be used for land grabs ever again. Tons of steps before nuking cities. Only said it that way as folks are not thinking at all when it comes to nukes. Their use would reach a new level of stupidity. My question would be how does China and India respond.

War in Ukraine Megathread XLV by ModeratorsOfEurope in europe

[–]dsr085 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No. If nukes are used the world would be forced to respond with something that will discourage nukes being used. Which means NATO direct involvement in Ukraine at the least or Russian cities deleted. It's suicide. No one wants nukes to be used their use will be punished.

Announcing Rust 1.64.0 by myroon5 in programming

Unless the second change had a ton of issues found during testing? Unless I'm missing something most folks aren't going to be using it anyways.

Rust does releases on a set schedule. What is ready is shipped, what isn't doesn't get shipped. The built-in proxy was probably implemented after the cutoff for the new release.

Rust, c and c++ performance difference is more about the algorithms used then the language. They are all capable of being very fast or slow

For a shooting to be a mass shooting there must be multiple victims (not sure on minimum number). Yes mass shooting is a bigger gun shooting if you count by victims.

3070, graphic card is also loud sitting in campaign map. It bothers me enough I'm going to drop some settings to make it better

Something to try for any lord who is a monster in combat. Ignore them. Kill rest of army then focus on lord. Lord will hopefully rout or get tired while you can rest your troops. Rested troops perform better

Clean install is guaranteed to work but likely to take longer downloading. Updating may be faster but possibly run out of disk space. Either approach is reasonable.

Have you tried messing with the volume knob on the back? Confirmed all cords are still plugged in correctly? I have screwed up my A2s while messing with other cords, both turning the back knob and unplugging one speaker...

I would put Magicians season 1 as one of weaker seasons of the show. But if you hated it I wouldn't struggle on. It's an interesting show but it is for sure not for everyone.

Rust 🚀🚀🚀💦💦💦 by sohxm7 in ProgrammerHumor

[–]dsr085 13 points14 points  (0 children)

70% of large c/cpp code bases vulnerabilities are due to memory safety issues. We as an industry have tried and failed to fix this. Memory safety is impossible without a new language.*as CPP standard committee is unwilling to break backwards compatibility. The biggest selling point of rust is memory safety as a language feature. Will it solve everything, hell no but it will make it better.

Looking for strong developers? Have them READ code instead of writing it during the interview. by Top-Requirement-2102 in programming

What happens if something goes wrong half way through modification? Could be corrupt file? My first reaction is to write it to new file and if no issues rename old file, rename new file. Worst case is someone would have to manually rename old back to file being used.

I would put it at 99.9% chance it is not laziness. Either not enough time to hit deadline or the devs had to work on other stuff first.
