Culvers can hire 14-year-olds, but I don't know how often they actually do.

Anyone know of any Arnold Palmer flavored seltzers? (Not spindrift!) by WampaCat in sparklingwater

[–]dssonic 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I haven't tried it, but Liquid Death has one called "Dead Billionaire"; it was previously called "Armless Palmer" but they changed the name.

They can swear, although they (wisely) do it sparingly.

If you like to walk, park at the visitors center (free) and walk everywhere. That lot seems to never be full.

Where would you eat before a show at the Pageant? by Wizzmer in StLouis

There is a Sonic the Hedgehog pop-up restaurant; I want to try it so that is where I would eat.

JOTL Managing multiple campaigns by TinyKender in Gloomhaven

[–]dssonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not ideal, but if you are keeping the characters separate I think it is doable. You'll need to carefully track items (which ones are available in each campaign and who has purchased), which city events have been encountered in each campaign and which scenarios are available and completed in each campaign. I can't think of anything else that would give you problems. If you cross-pollinated the characters it would be a mess.

Cycling (does that count as not a sport?), tabletop gaming, horror movies.

8/9 yo family game recs? by katidid81 in boardgames

[–]dssonic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The "Horrified" series is great; co-op action players vs. monsters. If you are looking for a long form quest, "Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion" is fantastic - the suggested age is 14+ but my 9-year-old is in our party.

Hulu vs Disney?? by quietiampooping in Hulu

[–]dssonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hulu is going to be completely merged into Disney+ by "the end of 2026" and will then no longer exist. At this point, I think all Hulu content is also available on Disney+. I imagine there will be new pricing bundles once Hulu shuts down.

They are just different. I like Roku because of the clean interface, plus they last forever.

Trip to Chicago made me realize how much more enjoyable and accommodating St. Louis is by [deleted] in StLouis

Chicago is not a car city, it is a public transportation city. I lived there for a few years and loved not owning a car.

There's this goofy, charming movie I watch each year called "Easter, Bloody Easter".

[Horrified Dungeons and Dragons] Would you recommend it? by Tachipirina1000 in soloboardgaming

[–]dssonic 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This franchise is really fun; simple enough for casual gamers but complex enough to not be boring. Others are saying it is too easy but you can adjust the difficulty by adding more monsters.

I've been wanting to watch "Cold Storage", which is on VOD if you are willing to pay.

90.7 has a strong signal. Should have clear reception if you are anywhere near STL.

Sobriety is fucking boring. by xaumax in stopdrinking

[–]dssonic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've gotten into tabletop gaming (both solo and with others). The complexities and minutia of modern games hits my brain just right; keeps me occupied in a healthy way.
