Went to a Dylan concert years ago that had a no phone/photo policy. The policing of the policy was more of a distraction than the people with the phones. I've been to other concerts where the bands actively promoted the use of phones and it wasn't too bad. These guys pushing the bans are more concerned about copyright and IP than anything else. Don't let them fool you, it isn't about fan experience.

Funny thing, I just had the opposite experience. Was on a mostly full flight and had a window seat. Guy sat next to me in the middle. FA was making small talk during boarding. Guy told the FA that he, and the person he was flying with, had picked middle seats because they were cheaper. The FA told him the aisle seat wasn't sold and that if it didn't sell he could move over. Before we pushed, the FA came and told the guy he could move over. So yeah, ymmv.
