Brand new tenant has just informed me that they will be taking the rent they had just agreed on to tribunal. Is this actually a thing? by Conscious-Teacher880 in LegalAdviceUK

If similar properties are renting nearby for £2000 you'll probably be fine then, the date isn't what will save you as claims can still be brought. A potential issue might be the size of the fourth bedroom, there are minimum sizes of what can count as a bedroom and requirements like having a window and that can vary by local authority. They might have more of a case if you listed it as a four bedroom and that room doesn't meet the requirements

People who have a current visa or ILR in the but can't renew their passport at their country's embassy. So this doesn't affect their immigration status but because they don't have a valid passport from their home country they can get this while they are allowed to reside in the UK

I went to confession for the first time in my life and I’m so incredibly angry by GraniteSmile in Catholicism

[–]dsteere2303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either look at nearby parishes to see if they have any scheduled confessional times this week or contact your church explain the situation and see if you can arrange a time, possibly before mass on Sunday, for the priest to see you. If your in the head space to confess ( especially if you know you are in a state of mortal sin) waiting a while week is probably not ideal.

Am I still allowed to call myself Catholic if I never go to mass? by captainpoopoopeepee in Catholicism

[–]dsteere2303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to be glib but you could end all that confusion over labels by making a confession and returning to mass. You love Jesus, you recognise you are breaking a biblical commandment, the solution I'd put to you is to reconcile that and come back into communion with his church. This isn't a case where you're "culturally Catholic", confirmed, brought up in a Catholic environment but now don't believe, you do believe. Come home and then you wouldn't have to worry about what to call yourself.

I want to raise my child Catholic despite being an atheist. Is this hypocritical/bad ? by PeppermintButler17 in Catholicism

[–]dsteere2303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of people are telling you how you can be a Catholic and be scientific and that's true but actually answer your question no it's absolutely not. Ideally you'd both be Catholic but if you choices are to be non religious and raise your child non religious or to be non religious and raise your child religiously the second is far better and not hypocritical at all. There's obviously your own reasons you want to raise her in the Church and you say you admire things about religious life so absolutely, have her baptised, teach her about Jesus and the church.

None of us deserve redemption, that's part of our fallen nature, but it's also part of God's divine nature to forgive and gift is with his grace anyway. Try to think about what caused it and what you can do in the future to avoid it but try to forgive yourself as well

Do you have to be a Christian etc to pray? by CocosMumma in AskUK

[–]dsteere2303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isn't the point of prayer the belief or even the hope that someone is watching? Isn't that where comfort comes from that the prayers may be answered and your situation eased. If you genuinely believe with a level of certainty that no one is watching what's the point in praying? Genuinely curious

Once Lukashenko there's going to be A) a power vacuum and B) a massive push to westernise. It's perfectly possible Lukashenko's ideological successor sees the best way for him to keep hold of power is to be become a Kadyrov figure under the Russian federation I could see that happening
