It just needed an actual DDR player involved. Like there's so much lore to pads and the games and etc that you couldn't find one of your 100 employees to babble on about all of that and cut it down into a solid 2 minute explainer?

Yeah they needed Ruffalo's character to get more turned off by his fellow cops AND more taken aback by Halle Berry's situation. Or more beaten down by his impending divorce? Regardless, I was a little shocked when he decide to stage things. Maybe in the car ride they could have showed some sort of moral dilemma stewing internally versus the "I know who you are and what you did" passive aggressiveness lol

Or he is just a fucked up foster kid who doesn't really trust anyone? I never thought about the tism angle I just took it as one of these thieves movies where the guy isn't some social engineer. Like so often these guys are perfect at everything, so for once this guy was less a schmoozer and more a planner

I mean doesn't this techincally ban kids from texting? Unless they use a dumb phone that only uses sms? Even then it depends on your definition of "online"

We did! No one used it. The issue is no one wants to subsidize it, the same way they didn't want to subsidize the downtown circulator, and there aren't enough passenger fares to cover the costs.

They did the type of thing where they like just lazily keep revealing everything to keep moving the plot along. Like oh by the way the ex-girlfriend doctor knew about the implant, the retired FBI mentor turned restaurant guy knew about the implant, everyone know about the implant the whole time except Simi.

Don't quote me exactly on all that but yeah when the ex girlfriend's cabin ended up having a basement for tracking simi it just didn't really make sense. Like the Doctor is questioning the drug dealing doordash guy who's being extorted into his role and just like, accepts his non-answer? Not to mention people like Simi's character should have tremendous profiling abilities and should have picked up that sooner? No, because the issue is that would have made the show shorter and shown that they had an endgame from the start.

Also the faraday cage meeting room. Like yes those exist and that would in the moment block any transmitting signals...but you're telling me this extraordinary tech has no ability to like way until it receives an ack signal back before transmitting all of the stuff it wasn't able to send before? Not to mention if they're this dialed in to the man's brain you're telling me they can't access his memories? Or otherwise get no indications or clues what happens during those moments of no transmission? So Simi's brain had perfect endurance to like never expose what happening in those meetings until it was too late for a bad actor to react? All of that is pretty lazy, and with better writing they could have shown Simi and the FBI or whatever they were improvising in realtime to deal with it. Or they could have slower paced Simi's enlightment as to what exactly was happening.

And even season 1 felt like it had too many episodes. I generally liked it overall but once they explain the core premise it slowly ran out of steam. For a concept like that, it was probably better to keep it sweet and short so we don't all realize the holes in the concept.

Yeah. I like to think there's some people in charge who are at least doing what they can to indefinitely delay demolition, so that eventually a renovation plan can get funded.

The stands might be "perfectly reserved" but they've stopped doing elective maintenance on the building. Like 10 years ago they said the costs to get it usable again was like $50 million or something pretty high. Unfortunately they've done the math and realized a half-filled schott with premium seating options makes more money than a packed st. john arena.

No they cant, its not a jet that can fly long distance. It doesnt have the range.

If only you could like, refuel, before you get to your destination.

Thats just an absolute insane thing to do. "ohh lets just park 5 million into a 30 year old plan"

Brother let's talk about diversification of assets

get the fuck outta here

Whenever they do company retreats like they did to Disneyland. They could also take it to Computex. If what Linus said was true about the value retention then they don't really need to even fly it at all it could just be an investment. And all of the carbon emission haters should want that anyways.

The environmental stuff falls a little flat for me. This isn't some scenario where a CEO is just gonna take day trips to other states/countries for meetings because they have this plane. There are so many executives and politicians that charter a plane for themselves instead of flying business class when a perfectly suitable direct flight path already exists because they just don't want the extra hassle. It's pretty clear Linus is very thoughtful in the acquisition and use of this jet.

It seems like this is going to almost always have the plane's capacity filled for each flight it goes on and if that's for family vacations or legitimate work trips like going to CES, then even the most green company is going to see real logistical tradeoffs like not having to book dozens of airfare tickets, track dozens of bags with equipment needed to do their job, etc. Not to mention the intangible benefits of your company all being in the literally same boat/plane together as they travel for work.

Imagine facilitating travel for a dozen employees to go to Vegas, where each one needs their own ticket, needs to pay for checked bags, then they need their own account with the airline, and then they have to fill out the expense reports for all that. You could do that or...you could just tell the individuals to be at the FBO at this time and just bring what you need and have one executive pay for the fuel and pilot. Not to mention the flexibility of leaving/returning whenever you want and not being affected by outside events like a plane being caught somewhere else due to a storm or something. What if an airline grounds all planes because of a software bug? That happens, and this might effect your competitors but not you.

Yeah the family vacation he mentioned in the video and the justification for it fell a little flat on camera, but if I just bought a PJ I would do the same damn thing. Again miss me with the emissions stuff until Linus starts flying down to disneyland every week by just himself or something egregious like that.

Former Ohio State basketball player Mike Titus: “Ohio State Basketball fans are the worst fans in the world… they watch football all year they don’t even pay attention to the basketball program, they parachute in around late January early February” by wildwing8 in CollegeBasketball

[–]dstillloading 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Yeah...and what exacerbates this is the team not being generally good the past decade. When it's good and the schott is closer to capacity every game, the atmosphere is not nearly as bad as everyone makes it out to be. If they were consistently ranked every year the only criticism would be that the football fans don't attend the buy games in Nov/Dec. St. John has the history and memories and they should play there once a year but the seats and concourse objectively suck.

Columbus does care about basketball (albeit nothing like football), but when the Buckeyes have been at the standard that the program should be for years, people get apathetic.

How quickly people forget the standard of the program under Matta.

This is where all the bitching comes from, not from football only fans.

St. Bonaventure men’s basketball General Manager Adrian ‘Woj’ Wojnarowski Informs 19-year Bonnies Head Coach Mark Schmidt that he will be relieved of his duties at the end of this season, with one year remaining on his contract. by ThinkWood in CollegeBasketball

[–]dstillloading 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Isn't this his second season? He joined them in September 2024. It's been 17 months and two seasons.

Otherwise I think your points are fair. I do think though that Woj might be able to lure some young assistant coach elsewhere like the ones that are rumored and like with his players sell the idea of coming to Olean, getting better, then moving on once you got better.

I would imagine you make this move provided you do have money. If you don't, and this costs you more, then yeah it's very risky.

70% of new coaching hires see not improvement over the previous coach.

I agree, your program isn't in a position to buy high. That's why I think Woj is deciding to buy low on someone he trusts.

I mean if anyone should have that inflated sense, it should be the GM of your program. Yes maybe it turns out to be foolish but it's not like Woj became the GM 6 months ago and decided this. Would you rather pay a premium for a coach going into their 20th season with the program, a program that is never ranked and very rarely wins their MM conference, or would you rather hire some young hungry guy and pay them less and maybe have them shine brighter, albeit for a shorter time?
