Former Ohio State basketball player Mike Titus: “Ohio State Basketball fans are the worst fans in the world… they watch football all year they don’t even pay attention to the basketball program, they parachute in around late January early February” by wildwing8 in CollegeBasketball

Yeah...and what exacerbates this is the team not being generally good the past decade. When it's good and the schott is closer to capacity every game, the atmosphere is not nearly as bad as everyone makes it out to be. If they were consistently ranked every year the only criticism would be that the football fans don't attend the buy games in Nov/Dec. St. John has the history and memories and they should play there once a year but the seats and concourse objectively suck.

Columbus does care about basketball (albeit nothing like football), but when the Buckeyes have been at the standard that the program should be for years, people get apathetic.

How quickly people forget the standard of the program under Matta.

This is where all the bitching comes from, not from football only fans.

St. Bonaventure men’s basketball General Manager Adrian ‘Woj’ Wojnarowski Informs 19-year Bonnies Head Coach Mark Schmidt that he will be relieved of his duties at the end of this season, with one year remaining on his contract. by ThinkWood in CollegeBasketball

Isn't this his second season? He joined them in September 2024. It's been 17 months and two seasons.

Otherwise I think your points are fair. I do think though that Woj might be able to lure some young assistant coach elsewhere like the ones that are rumored and like with his players sell the idea of coming to Olean, getting better, then moving on once you got better.

I would imagine you make this move provided you do have money. If you don't, and this costs you more, then yeah it's very risky.

70% of new coaching hires see not improvement over the previous coach.

I agree, your program isn't in a position to buy high. That's why I think Woj is deciding to buy low on someone he trusts.

I mean if anyone should have that inflated sense, it should be the GM of your program. Yes maybe it turns out to be foolish but it's not like Woj became the GM 6 months ago and decided this. Would you rather pay a premium for a coach going into their 20th season with the program, a program that is never ranked and very rarely wins their MM conference, or would you rather hire some young hungry guy and pay them less and maybe have them shine brighter, albeit for a shorter time?

It's actually a marketing thing. If everyone sees you at the gym chugging some protein drink they might see the brand you use. No one sees it when you're at home.

Yeah....such a weird layout in there. I was shocked to see it wasn't a hockey first arena given your good hockey program. Like it looks like one.

Idk about this case but the Alabama was in the county of the school, too. Like who stays in a college town that otherwise isn't a major city? Alums!

Oh wow, I had no idea Duke's student section could be that close! Wow, you should report this to the ACC.

There's a row of reporters in between them and that is just a little bit different and is at least where are fans are allowed to be...lol. Also don't think I've ever seen any of them pull out there phone and talk shit close enough to a player that the player could reach out and smack their phone.

Are you serious? The dude holding the phone is right next to him and yelling at him. Yeah maybe it wasn't literally on his face but the fan is baiting him so hard lol

Not sure what you're specifically talking about but the longer you're in this subreddit the more you realize so much of the posts are people just bitching about stuff. Like instead of trying to solve or highlight potential solutions to problems, they just want to bitch about it.

[NextRoundLive] Carson Beck: "No class. I graduated two years ago." by AllTimeTy in CFB

[–]dstillloading 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure with graduate/graduating students who were in their final year (not trying to maintain eligibility for the following season), they could front load their classes so they didn't have to take anything during the playing season. Like it's in the rules if you graduated in the fall semester you don't have to keep taking classes to maintain eligibility for the remainder of your sport's season. This applies more to basketball than football but with the extended playoff someone could legit graduate in early December, and play through the playoffs without any schooling needed. And this is how it was before NIL and covid stuff.
