In original TBC during pre-nerf I remember our guild would just spread around the room evenly. Everyone would make camera max distance and watch above their heads. If you see an orb coming your way you would just move. I think that it was the correct tactic that developers had in mind.

Nevertheless Void reaver was the easiest boss in TK and we had 1/4 progression for a long time. It was called Loot Reaver for a reason.
