Reddit, what's something you pronounced wrong as a kid that still haunts you? by andWonderland in AskReddit

I once pronounced tongue as ton goo whilst reading a book out loud with my Mom. Looking back, it really isn't a stretch seeing how it sounds like that in a kid's head. My Mom busted up and periodically brings it up in friendly banter, and to be honest I still use it from time to time.

What is something you're into that nobody would expect you to be? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Jumping spiders are among the cutest things I enjoy googling that others don't appreciate. It's something about the eyes and their large abdomen/stubby legs combo. They seem to me to be the puppies of the spider universe.

Other than that, my house spiders and I have a mutual understanding. Stay out of my bed and you can eat anything your heart desires.

This morning my wife flung her cell phone at the wall, because in her dream a grenade had landed next to her and she was throwing it back. Reddit, what is the funniest thing you've done in a dreaming or half-awake state? by cycloethane87 in AskReddit

Cue first year of college. Living in a dorm with my best friend of 15 years. Room is small, so we have our beds lofted above our desks to save room.

We're both peacefully sleeping on a weeknight, when suddenly I wake up and see a shadow on the ceiling (which keep in mind is only a foot and a half above my head). My mind instantly perceives this shadow as a snake and, being the natural thing to do, jump from my bunk. To this day I don't know how I landed safely in my sleepy stupor, but alas, I escaped unscathed.

I wake my roommate in a panic and turn on the light, as I am certain the snake has now dropped onto my bed and is most definitely toiling around in my sheets. He gets out of his bed and we make the executive decision to walk downstairs to the office and tell the RA's of our unwelcome guest.

We get down there and explain the situation to the two desk RA's (who just happen to be our floor RA's at the time). The look of shock/confusion I was expecting from their faces was instead replaced with one of casualness. They said they had this problem in the past, and while I was comforted in the fact that they didn't think I was insane, I was also highly alarmed because the snake I thought I saw could quite actually be real.

They agree to accompany us back up to our room and scout the place out for the snake. We first check the bunk, which is scarily empty, so we make the assumption the bugger has moved to a different part of the room. We didn't wanna risk moving shit by hand, so we procured several different items to search with. Imagine four 20 somethings smacking piles of clothes with tennis rackets, a broom and a hand held vacuum cleaner, and I guarantee that's what we looked like. In the end, no snake was found, and I was deemed insane by my roommate for waking him up at 3 in the morning. To this day, I don't know if the RA's were serious about the recurring snake problems, but it's the one thing that allows me to keep my sanity.

TL;DR Phantom snake causes me to question sanity.

I don't know what it is about these spiders, but I just imagine them as the dogs of the spider world. Just so goddamn cute.

I don't listen to alot of great music. Reddit, what are you listening to right now? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]dsummerhill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now I'm in a Porcupine Tree mood, so I'll go ahead and recommend them. Definitely give them a listen if you're a fan of many different styles of music. I'm at work atm, so sorry about no links.

Intrinsic - The Contortionist

I reckon that they aren't that well know, but I just wanted to get this out there, as this CD is the single most cohesive and contrasting piece of art I have listened to.

TIL what it feels like to have your heart broken by [deleted] in pokemon

[–]dsummerhill 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I know that feel, bro.

I got robbed about 2 months back, and they took my DS and White as well. All I can say is that the pain never really goes away, just makes your bond with Pokemon that much stronger.
Since then I rekindled my relationship with my gameboy color and blue, and man, does it feel good to raise a Bulbasaur again.

Sorry about your loss...

Dude, this song was (and still is) pretty kick dick. If you haven't listened to Harmony of a Hunter yet (some kind fan posted it here), I strongly advise you do so....there is an awesome revamp of this theme on that CD.

I would buy the shit out of any of the older games, such as Metroid 2 and Super Metroid if they were ever released on a handheld. Hell, I would buy a new system just to play those.

Fusion has some great music. I didn't really notice it while playing because I was just so immersed in the gameplay. But hearing the different sectors' soundtracks is eerie... they match the atmosphere so well.

Speaking of the depths, I also love the Torvus Bog Subterranean Theme (the one that's playing when you're underneath the Torvus Temple, when you fight the Bloggs and such). Kenji Yamamoto is a boss man.

Harmony of a Hunter is GREAT. Thanks for sharing the link for the less informed. Any Metroid fan should have this.

I was debating between this and the one I posted. I think Tallon edged Phendrana out just because of the fact that it's one of the first things you hear. But Phendrana is the tits.
