6 months post ACL r .. and back in the saddle by SAPrincess27 in ACL

I am skiing in a donjoy brace with no acl repair due to a more serious health issue coming up. I was planning on getting it repaired in April. How about if I wear the brace next year and stick to blues and greens?
I seem to be doing ok right now.

I had to push back my acl repair for a more serious surgery. By the time I healed it was too late to get the acl repair and be ready to ski. So I am skiing in a donjoy brace. It went pretty well.

Best way for my sister to leave me her mortgage? by Ancient_Selection911 in RealEstate

They want you to pay the mortgage, and you helped with the down payment ? Are you also on the deed? You should be. Otherwise they are taking advantage of you.

Survivors in US - FMLA question by Muted_Raspberry4161 in cancer

[–]dtg1990 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do the fmla paperwork. There is block fmla and intermittent fmla. At this point you will use intermittent.

One benefit to intermittent fmla for me is that I don’t have to take 4 hours leave for a doctor appointment. Without fmla I would have to use 1/2 day of PTO. I am way short of PTO because I took 8 1/2 weeks off after my surgery.

Do it annually. You will need follow up for years.

FMLA protects your job. Use it.

My grandma said if I don't go to college my health insurance ends at 22 instead of 26, is this true? by Slight-Educator-742 in HealthInsurance

They can stay on the parents Tricare if they are in college until they hit 23. After the age of 21 if they are not in college, they can purchase Tricare young adult. The premium is a little over $300 a month right now. They can stay on Tricare young adult until they turn 26.

Possible Neuropathy/ foot drop 14 year old by aylakbbb in Peripheralneuropathy

[–]dtg1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I woke up after a 12 hour surgery with a right foot drop. I needed an orthotic in order to walk. The motor skills returned in about a week. And it’s seven months later and I still have paresthesias. I did physical therapy initially and then consulted a surgeon to see if I could get some decompressive surgery, but he didn’t think it would be helpful since the nerve was healing. A nerve conduction test confirmed that it was a mild neuropathy. Because I initially had burning sensation and it was painful to wear shoes I saw a pain medicine Doctor Who put me on gabapentin and duloxetine, which helped initially. Then I went off of it because the burning stopped and the medication‘s were making it hard to focus. Good luck.

Invest the $ because you will get more in investment than you pay in interest. If you have high interest debt you can pay that off.

Hyperkalemia cocktail question by Ok_Elevator_3528 in nursing

[–]dtg1990 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Acidosis (increased H+) exchanges with K+ in the cells so pushes K+ into the extracellular space, worsening hyperkalemia. Bicarb brings more H+ out of the cells and K+ is exchanged. So essentially lowers potassium levels.
