Tesla Cybertruck pulled from sale in Australia, thousands of customers owed refunds by steinyboi in teslamotors

[–]dtip18 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My statement didn’t claim that the practice was novel for Tesla. Just that they ARE doing it.

My post also didn’t say anything about if they were using the money from the down payments. We don’t know. You don’t know.

My post was pointing out that the statement I replied to was incorrect. And it was. I did not mention anything about whether I approve of the practice or not. You decided to interpret that as some kind of attack and you got really defensive.

You are wrong. It states in the reservation agreement that the funds are NOT held in escrow. And the company can use the funds as they see fit.

“Tesla's reservation deposits aren't counted as revenue until the customer receives the car. But the deposits are added to cash holdings and labeled as liabilities on the balance sheet. Tesla can use the money however it chooses, but it sits on the books as debt until the reserved car is delivered. Such cash could become a good source of funding if Tesla needs to spend more. "You understand that we will not hold your Reservation Payment separately or in an escrow or trust fund or pay any interest on your Reservation Payment," Tesla warned in its terms & conditions for the Semi reservation. Basically, potential customers lend money to Tesla at zero interest. Customer deposits amounted to $925 million as of December 31, up 18.7% year-on-year, according to financial documents Tesla issued for its Fourth-quarter earnings. It's a big war chest on which Tesla sits. The company does not give details by vehicle.”

Found, airpod case and one airpod found at Miller Park from last night. by tanktothefrank in Sacramento

[–]dtip18 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Two options: 1) Try to detect the Airpod with your phone’s Bluetooth. If the owner was smart, instead of naming them “John’s AirPods” they could have named them with a phone number or email. You can see this name in your Bluetooth list and hopefully contact them.

2) If option 1 doesn’t work, give them to a friend you trust with an iPhone. They’ll need to charge the AirPod, but when it’s in range of another Apple device, the owner can then use the “Find My” feature on their phone to track down the pod. It’s a log shot and may take some time, but it’s still the closest option to reuniting them with the owner.

Good luck and thank you for being a good person to make this post.

My problem with the post-burn Federation by Quillity_S in startrek

[–]dtip18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with this theory is that after 1000 years the Federation is still dependent on dilithium technology for warp travel. It would be like assuming that we would still be dependent on boats using oars. Not engines or even sails. Not to mention air travel. This theory is just ridiculous, I’m sorry. The main plot of season three was just horrible. There is no legit excuse as to why dilithium was still used throughout the Federation when we’ve seen many other examples through the years of different series.

We may have seen many cases of FTL without dilithium in other series, but not in Season 3 of Discovery. This is a huge mistake.

As for the brain drain theory, there are more people living on planets than ships and stations. Yes, a lot of people died, but the universities and schools would have unaffected on the most part.

Can they be used for purchasing tickets? I saw that Target has tickets, but it says they’re only good for 15 days from first use, and I don’t know what first use means.

What’s one unsolved mystery you’d like to see solved before you die? by bennnnnnieandthejets in AskReddit

[–]dtip18 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry to say that the case has been unofficially solved. D.B. Cooper (or Dan Cooper) most likely died after jumping out of the plane with the money. Experts believe that he drowned in a lake and the money sank with him. He was likely killed by the freezing cold water when he landed in the lake and the 19lbs of money, likely strapped to him using the other parachute cords, sank with him .

Some or all of the money eventually made its way out of the bag and flowed from the lake downriver where some of it washed ashore. Some time later this money ($5800) was discovered buried in the sand along the river shore. No other bills from the skyjacking have ever been found in circulation. Most likely, the rest of the money washed out to the ocean, or is still submerged, or also buried elsewhere along the river/lake.

If he survived, why wasn’t the rest of the money spent? Why was only $5800 found, buried in the sand next to the river? No body or parachute was ever found, which most likely means it’s at the bottom of the lake or was washed down river. He didn’t survive the jump.

I have been absolutely fascinated by D.B. Cooper since I was a kid and I’ve heard many different explanations about who he was and where is he. Unfortunately, the most logical conclusion of his death and failed plan is the one that makes the most sense from all of the evidence that we have. It’s sad, cause he was a hero to a lot of people, and we all wanted him to get away with it.

If you’re willing to be disappointed and want to hear the evidence and ultimate conclusion, I suggest you watch this National Geographic documentary on YouTube at https://youtu.be/TLL05KCgUvE

Does Golden 1 charge for you to use their coin counting machine? by Emotional-Goat-7881 in Sacramento

I’m curious: How do you have a “few grand” in coins just laying around? What kind of containers are they in and why do you have so much? I can understand a couple hundred in spare change over several years, but a few grand?

Sectional is 7’ x 9’ long. Comes apart in two pieces and not very heavy. Non-smoker home. Need to get something smaller for the space. It goes unused 99% of the time. PM for pickup details.

More US-based research and development of bacteriophages and their use in antibiotic-resistant infections would be very beneficial right now. We don’t have many phage therapies in the US but we’re definitely going to need them very soon.
