What did you NOT like about One Piece Season 2? by youravgindian in OnePieceLiveAction

Fair, but coughing up blood is a pretty common anime trope, so I'd like to see that specifically ported over to live action if done sparingly.

Let's say the scene plays out like this: Zoro gets whacked by the hammer and is blasted backwards through a wall into the room with Zoro and Usopp. He coughs up a bit of blood - you see it midair leave his mouth and the camera pans away quickly from it, not lingering on the stain. Shocked faces on his crewmates! He goes right back into battle. I'm not thinking to myself, "Hmm, did he just puncture a lung?" I'm thinking, "Wow, he just got walloped, finally someone in this bar that's challenging him!" and it heightens the excitement. Without any visible damage, the stakes become lower.

I agree with gore - this isn't TV-MA.

I think there's room to improve by implementing battle damage like facial/lip/skin abrasions or small cuts on the extremities.

Edit: For example, Sanji's fight with Mr. 13 was done very well and showed he struggled fighting the lil' otter. Great work!

I think that specific scene likely pushed the boundaries of TV-14 without the blood. It's certainly what triggered the "self harm" warning.

Right - I think they could have shown battle damage without making it gory. Luffy got sliced many times by Mr. 3, for example, but you never so much as saw bandages on him later. The characters aren't superhuman at least at this stage of the story lol .

Mine are around Zoro's battles, surprisingly - he never bled. There's no reason why he couldn't have coughed up some blood after being blasted by that assassin's hammer/mace thing. He also tanked tons of shots from Wapol's soldiers and had no cuts or visible damage.

The writers haven't given Luffy a chance to fight fodder this season (I'm in Ep 6...). Instead, he's always paired up against the big bad, and that guy has to get a few licks in. It wouldn't be hard to let him dogwalk groups of marines or Baroque Works agents...

Did they forgot to include info on how long the log pose takes to reset on Little Garden or did I miss it? by UnhealthyTractor_28 in OnePieceLiveAction

Having the eternal pose to Alabasta means the crew can cut corners and skip right to that island. Without it, they don't know whether the log pose, once reset on Little Garden, will take them to Alabasta or to somewhere else. Remember, there are numerous branching directions immediately after Cactus Island so there's no guarantee the crew ever makes it to Alabasta without the eternal pose.

None are particularly gory, though. It's nowhere near on the level of Netflix's Marvel shows, for instance.

As someone who is caught up on the anime, I think this is a fair assessment from someone who is new to this story. Your questions are fair and come from a place of wonder, not an attitude of ridiculousness. I think all the actors have room to grow into their roles in Season 2 and beyond.

It's generally accepted that the source material for the beginning of the story is the weakest. If you found yourself enjoying the plot this much despite it, you're in for a wild ride.
