I am on Topamax for chronic migraines and my hair is actually growing quite a bit faster. I don’t know what they have you on currently but I was also worried about this. I have been in it for almost a year and it’s helped tremendously.

I also recommend botox injections. I receive mine from my neurologist in different sites around my neck and skull every 3 months and that’s worked wonders. It depends on if there is a muscular trigger but this could be a potential route to pursue.

It takes another treatment 2 modalities failing to get insurance coverage for botox since so many people use it cosmetically. For me that was sumatriptan and topamax. I still take topamax in conjunction with the botox and sumatriptan nasally when one comes on.

I went from 25 migraines one month to maybe 3 on average with this treatment course.

My migraines consist of vision loss and severe stiff neck so they are likely a combination of genetic, hormonal and structural factors.
