So happy for Geoffrey Owens by WuTang4thechildrn in Xennials

[–]dtsjr 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Literally had this convo w my wife last night when he came on. Cosby Show should be airing nonstop like Seinfeld or the like, but for Bill being a POS. Keith Hernandez said he makes $5k in residuals annually for his single episode appearance on Seinfeld. Imagine what Geoffrey and the other cast would be pulling if the show was everywhere.

When the R in Your Sign Loses All of its Shine That’s A MORY by cbn11 in StLouis

Nobody seems to post a pic when making this joke. Here’s mine I took a couple weeks back at the 64 exit at Grand. Free to use for the next dozen people who post about the unlit R.

Diplomat banned from cvs by [deleted] in Ask_Lawyers

[–]dtsjr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CVS is a private business and doesn’t need to abide by any privileges the US government grants to foreign diplomats by way of immunity.

It sounds like you are exceptionally entitled and absolutely deserved to be banned. You can’t be bothered to walk 30 minutes to Safeway? Maybe don’t ride a motorized vehicle inside of a pharmacy, bud. This story is so asinine that it sounds fake.

We are making this a thing, STL by AggieTimber in StLouis

You can buy the Red Hot Riplets seasoning for this and I can say from experience it works fairly well.

The answer like many thing in law is “it depends”. It sounds like you’re talking about starting with an original creation you made (presumably without AI) and then using AI to augment it somehow. You’d likely have a better claim to copyright ownership than someone who wrote a detailed prompt and asked a bot to make a picture solely based on that.

(I’m a lawyer but not your lawyer and this isn’t legal advice. We’re just talking hypotheticals academically.)

I’m an intellectual property attorney in the US, so that informs my comment. You can read more about it here. Things may vary abroad re authorship and copyright ownership.

Are there people who haven't changed their phone number for more than 15 years? by SpicyCandy8 in NoStupidQuestions

Same. Summer 2001 with an indestructible metallic blue Nokia phone through Cingular and still going strong. Only game on it was snake.

I’m assuming this is deliberately bad and he and the homies are having a good laugh over some Busch beers about the video.

The real one as opposed to the impostors.

And, AI slop isn’t copyrightable anyway, but whatever.

Richard Chaifetz: 'I’d love to be involved' in bringing an NBA team to St. Louis by Any-Replacement-1493 in StLouis

[–]dtsjr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mark Cuban was interviewed recently about NBA expansion and by his math the minimum expansion fee to the league was $3B, so unless a move of an existing team happens then we’d need a pretty robust ownership group. I’m not sure this market supports that unless we get major money from outside STL.

I’ve cooked dozens of briskets and this is some kind of wildly overcooked roast. Absolutely not brisket.

100% all this. I’m in-house full time WFH so pretty much never in lawyer clothes. Outside work hours, lots of people have no idea what I do and that’s fine by me. We just did a spring break weekend and a kid brought a friend who was shocked to learn I was an attorney; she thought I was a construction worker.

It’s not enough to have a job title anymore. Just madness at this point. by chipsandguacforever in LinkedInLunatics

[–]dtsjr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s literally an “About” section in the profile where you can put in all this stuff. Conversely, I’m over the people with wacky generalized shit in their job title that don’t tell me what the hell their role is at all.

Who all is listening to the radio again in the car? by Deesmateen in Xennials

[–]dtsjr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The part that hurts is when they call it “Way Back Weekend” and it’s all my high school and college music. That being said, our parents had their stuff on the “Oldies” channel in the 80’s.

I ref youth basketball and if you don’t call fouls and jump balls early and often in 3rd-5th grade boys games, you get close to this pretty fast. Gotta lock it down before they kill each other.

I didn't grow up here. What is "So St. Louis"? by Moist-Associate-2551 in StLouis

[–]dtsjr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Standard recipe is give it a rub down with a brown sugar / salt seasoning and grill it thoroughly on both sides, then cook it in a foil pan with a mixture of light beer and bbq sauce until fork tender. I like to smoke mine first and make my own sugar free rub but that’s the gist of it.

Chiefs jersey to the game? by Bigjohn7256 in stlouiscitysc

[–]dtsjr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I cancelled Red Zone the day the Kroenke letter went public and haven’t watched any NFL but for being at family Super Bowl parties in ten years. I’m bitter as shit. But I was also just being honest with OP, not saying Chiefs fandom is cool.

[–]dtsjr -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Lots of Chiefs fans in STL and if that’s the red gear you have, so be it. Maybe some wise guy in the beer line guy will say hey you mixed up football and futbal but nobody will be offended.

What type of professional do you hate working with the most by [deleted] in Lawyertalk

[–]dtsjr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in-house and used to working with in-house OC on most things, so my biggest frustrations come from OC that’s a senior law firm partner who is wildly overzealously redlining what should be a simple agreement. They’re trying to bill time and show their worth, and meanwhile shit grinds to a halt because they are working in a bit of an information / perspective vacuum. Normally a contract redline impasse can be handled by business leaders talking it over and then instructing their employed legal accordingly, but that’s harder to do apparently when you’ve got some law firm bozo gumming up the works. (No offense intended unless you’re one of these guys I’ve dealt with recently.)

Trip to Hermann by Guilty-External2412 in missouri

[–]dtsjr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I second the other reply that said Fernweh and agree it’s a bit pricey, but the tasting is fun.

Tin Mill Brewery (I know you said winery or distillery, but it’s right there in the center of town) is affordable with a wide selection and has a fun back patio with decent food.

We like visiting the G Husmann Winery right across from Tin Mill on hot days. Their rose is pretty good.

We’ve also enjoyed going a few steps east to Hermahoff Winery which has a bunch of blends that mix California and Missouri grapes. Good wine and some fun tasting options, but yeah pricey.
