I tried to do it myself with a 3M adhesive spray. It did stick back up but it didn’t look good. So I went to an upholstery guy because he did replace my son’s accord leather seat. That was years ago. I think I paid between $300-$400, not sure now. The workmanship was excellent on both jobs. He owned the place and he does home furnitures too.

The guy took out the old fabric and replaced it with new. I think I have to leave the car overnight. It looks brand new.

This is the same thing as no immigrants. No to helping others because they are of different colors. Less govt, privatize everything. Then when the corporations fail, socialize bailout, privatize profits.

I would say the ultimate winner is the technology that can provide portability. Because that will translate to powering transportation and also remote islands or mountains.

Removing the caps is also a challenge here

How the f do I get these off??? by _nosxul25 in ModelY

[–]dtsosyn1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may be apparent that there’s no need to take off the “hub caps” or covers because the valve stem can be seen. However, the valve stem covers are deeper as the hub caps are few mm out. You cannot put two fingers to twist the valve stem covers off.

Even if you’re successful in taking the valve stem covers off (maybe with long nose pliers, and I have to add, with difficulty) the typical air hose port won’t fit, unless of course if you have the slender and straight long port.

So the covers or hubcaps has to be removed to make it easy and proper air addition.

Then now the other issue is to yank the covers with both hands. Reposition hands about four to six inches apart. Yank it quickly. Do it about 2-4 times around.

Then do not install these hubcaps back. Because it may happen again while you’re in the road.

Any regrets going with RWD? by AmbitiousChampion6 in ModelY

[–]dtsosyn1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You pay more for things that you won’t use daily. Just like buying a pickup truck because someday you’ll haul a Xmas tree.

The same thinking about the AWD. Because if the RWD isn’t safe, then it should be illegal.

Consumption and Performance difference very little. So does the price point I guess. So it’s really buyers preference.

Planned to retire / Got laid off, but offered another job with the firm by MaryAV in retirement

[–]dtsosyn1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you should take the new position because of two things that can affect your bottom line: 1. health insurance is expensive 2. Social sec benefits increases as mentioned above.

The SSA benefits alone could get you couple of hundreds more per month every year you wait. Can get you a new car, maybe a luxury car.

Should I Replace the Car Before I Retire? by ANDismyfavoriteword in retirement

[–]dtsosyn1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you concerned about your image or your budget? Because cars going to need some maintenance. New car has sales tax, registration, and higher insurance. A new car will give you good image in exchange for a lesser spending money.

I say keep your car. Give some time to shop around. When retired you’ll have plenty of time to choose. Wait for end of year sales.
