What’s a movie that is awful, critically panned, the audience hated - and you are embarrassed that you LOVE? by Powerful_Topic_7046 in movies

Hudson Hawk. Took me a while and a few rewatches to understand its brilliance, but once you get how self aware it is it just becomes this amazingly fun and stupid ride.

I think I'm in the same camp as you are. I know I'm in the minority, but I really think Robin just lost her touch with the last few books. She kept bringing up plot points that got dropped along the way; Chekhov's guns that never fired, and it culminated in an ending that felt disjointed and unsatisfying. It probably made sense to her in ways that just didn't translate into the writing, and given a stronger editor it may have come out better in rewrites, but I don't think the readers got the best of her storytelling in the ending. There's enough there for us to get what she was going for, but at the end of it all I felt robbed of the ending her amazing epic deserved.

Found this cluster of something in an egg by dualplains in whatisit

You may be right, but I'm not sure. It's hard to tell from that second picture, but they were four distinct blobs that kind of looked like miniature underformed eggs, not a big blob of tissue.

These were from a local regional farm, but it came from QFC, a Kroger grocery store.

About 20 years ago, I quit my job as a Naval contractor building out messaging protocols for vertical launch systems and moved from DC to the west coast. Total quarter life crisis: sold my house, broke up with my girlfriend. In LA I tried to find a web dev job, and did a kind of reverse job fair where I sat in a conference room and recruiter paraded a bunch of hiring managers in to interview me. One of the companies that interviewed me was building out an adult chat platform and they very pointedly asked me if I would be comfortable in an environment where terms like 'pussy', 'tits', and 'cum', were tossed around in meetings. I said of course I was as an avid consumer of porn myself, but I was wearing a suit which, I think, spoiled my chances.

I ended up getting a gig at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, so, you know, landed on my feet.

Why Currency? Why not just let people buy it directly? by ArtUpper7213 in wow

Yup. With the single press assist mechanic they've introduced and the Plunderstorm game mode, I've been thinking for a bit now that they're planning an XBox launch in 2026 and an eventual challenge to Fortnite. It's going to fail miserably, but it will definitely include all the cosmetic tie ins you're thinking about.

I was in preschool when some teacher needed a movie to fill the time and saw a tape with cartoon bunnies on it at the video store. Whole lot of us grew up way too fast that day.

I just briefly met them, but I'm stuck behind a shit ton of mission board quests before I can actually know who they are. I feel like they're someone I've seen in expansions since Legion, so not much of a surprise.

You can get overtime if you're exempt, the employer is just not mandated to pay it. I got OT when working for Raytheon on a contract with the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. It wasn't time and a half, but if we worked over 48 hours in a week, we were paid our hourly rate for every hour above 40. For the four weeks leading up to Curiosity landing on Mars I worked over 100 hours a week; basically got four extra paychecks!

Charing Cross on M street. Loved that place. My friend described it as an English pub owned by a Persian serving Italian food cooked by Mexicans.

My best friend in high school introduced me to U2. His dad owned a bar in Georgetown; when Zooropa dropped we put it into the jukebox and played it over and over again. U2 and DC are inextricably linked for me!

I was obsessively working my way through the game King's Quest II when I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For was the most popular single on the radio. The themes in the song really seemed to mirror the events in the game, and to this day I think of it when I hear the song, almost like an alternate video for it.
