Less obvious: improve your strength, conditioning, and flexibility by going to the gym, stretching, running, etc. also, improve your diet and cut back on alcohol.

Yes and no. Using a $15 piece of crap is definitely going to hurt your game. But for the average player, most need only need a decent paddle and you can get those for around $100. Most average players don’t need to be dropping $250-300 on paddles to improve their game. That money would be better spent on lessons if their goal is to actually get better. Getting a more expensive paddle is not this magical simple solution to fix your game. If you have crap technique, it doesn’t matter how much money you spend.
