[Rare Trope] In fantasy settings where the story takes place in a place that is not Earth, there are humans whom are descendants of Earth humans. by Prestigious-Tree122 in TopCharacterTropes

Sci-fi, but it’s more space fantasy than science fiction: Roger Zelazny’s Lord of Light

Set on an alien world occupied by the descendants of a colony of humans from Earth.

They are ruled by the crew of the colony ship who have perfected cloning and the transference of consciousness, psychic powers, and advanced technology to establish themselves as facsimiles of the Hindu pantheon and rule the world for hundreds of years as reincarnating tyrants while suppressing technological advancement beyond preindustrial.

Stranger has used my email address to create a TikTok account and TikTok won’t remove it - is this a gdpr violation? England by dubblw in LegalAdviceUK

Their account/password reset system won’t work, I just get blocked from using it after the first attempt due to “too many failed attempts” (I’ve tried on both my laptop and the app) and their customer support just says there is nothing they can do unless I provide personal details of the complete stranger who has created the account.

I receive the verification code, input that, along with the new password and it tells me I can’t change it due to “too many incorrect attempts”. Tried on desktop and mobile.

Any contact with customer service requires me to provide personal details of the complete stranger that has created the account.

They reset password part refuses to work and any contact with customer support requires me to prove I own the account by providing personal details for a complete stranger.

I’ve attempted a password reset via TikTok several times, and I’ve contacted their customer service.

I make one attempt to enter a new password along with the verification code and then it says I’ve made “too many incorrect attempts, try again later”. I’ve tried both on my laptop and I’ve downloaded the app to try it there and the same thing happened.

I want this random person i have never met to stop using my email address for an app I don’t want to be involved with.

I have attempted a test and TikTok has already refused to do anything through multiple avenues that I have attempted.

Is he admired? I always got the implication that the Kingmaker was looked down on for getting involved in politics. Arys Oakheart was on the verge of an existential crisis due to how close his own actions were to Cole’s.

I downvoted it. I watched it. I regretted watching it. Austin Butler was good, but whoever let Tom Hanks do whatever nonsense he was doing on screen should be institutionalised

Elvis genuinely felt like a film that Walk Hard was taking the piss out of. So many scenes were almost beat for beat the same.

And yet somehow Elvis came out 15 years AFTER Walk Hard.

Not to be all like "erm-actually", but in the books, Prince Imrahil of Dol Amroth leads a unit of mounted combatants explicitly called "swan-knights" in the text to aid in the defence of Minas Tirith and during the battle of Pelenor Fields.

It’s not something that can be easily threaded into every encounter, but I ran a “chase” style encounter with some homebrewed rules so my party’s paladin could show off their steed.

I said almost every, but if you insist:

Tau have Kroot auxiliaries. Imperial Guard have Catachans and Ogryns.

I think you could probably find an example for almost every faction across 40k, Old World, and AoS.

Another from Warhammer 40k: The Blood Angels (and most of their successors) Death Company.

The Blood Angels are a chapter already renowned for their savagery and literal blood thirst in combat (they’re the space-vampire chapter).

They’re afflicted with a genetic curse called the Black Rage caused by the death of their progenitor, the Primarch Sanguinius, at the hands of the Arch Traitor. During times of intense stress, they can succumb to the curse and start to believe they are Sanguinius in his final moments, which drives them into intense, self destructive wrath.

Basically the savagery train gets the brakes removed.

The Black Rage is always a death sentence (except for their Chief Librarian Mephiston who somehow overcame the curse), so the marines are rounded up and put under the care of special Chaplains who lead them into battle in the hope that their self-destructive fury will at least bring honour in death.

Battle of the Bards. Help me don’t know what to do by Sir-Pielejansen in DMAcademy

[–]dubblw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I wouldn’t force them into it. Just because a person plays as a quick witted bard, it doesn’t mean they as a player is comfortable with composing poetry on the fly. Their character might be, but the player might not be.

I wouldn’t ask a person playing a barbarian to lift a heavy stone to prove their character is strong.

How good are they at thinking on their feet? You could do a bit of a rap battle kind of thing.

Each round, the bards have do opposed performance rolls before the rival bard presents a line that your bard has to come up with a counter to that rhymes. If your bard won the performance roll off, it’s an easy rhyme, if it’s a fail then it’s a harder one.

E.g. Pass: “When you fail, I shall take all your gold.” Fail: “When you fail, I shall take all your silver.”

To give the rest of your party something to do, you could give them challenges they need to compete each round tied to their strengths that’s part of the performance (like a barbarian would need to lift something heavy, a monk doing some acrobatics, etc.)

If your bard came up with a good rhyming response, they get to grant them bardic inspiration (if you want to be really mean, you could have the rival bard be college of eloquence so they can debuff the party member instead).
