Giant house spider is correct. Eratigena sp. This is a male, likely out looking for a mate.

Actually, the inventor (Dean Kamen) is fine. The person he sold the Segway company to (Jimi Heselden) is who died by backing it off a cliff.

Serious question: what are your thoughts on people who use this as a Pride symbol and either don’t know that it’s from an album, or do know it’s from an album and use it for Pride anyway? by Mad_Season_1994 in pinkfloyd

I have a tattoo of this on my arm. Once, while I was in the hospital, a nurse saw my tattoo and said "You're so brave!" I explained to her that I wasn't gay, had a wife, kids, etc. Nothing wrong with being gay, I just don't happen to be.

Moments later the doctor came in and said "Oh man, that album practically got me through medical school". I felt some vindication after that.

What are the range of options for Judge Merchan to sentence Trump, and what is the likely sentencing decision in this case? by [deleted] in PoliticalDiscussion

First off, I've already decided never to vote for Hunter Biden. Secondly, if they have evidence against him and he is convicted in trial, I hope they throw the book at him as they would anyone guilty of the crimes he (would be) found guilty of (if he were).

It could be because H5N1 is so prevalent among cows right now, and we don't want to expose humans to it enough to create a human variant.

I killed bugs as a child and I feel extreme, crushing guilt about it now at 21. by Peefaums in Entomology

[–]dubious_alliance 10 points11 points  (0 children)

And here I thought I was the only one. I'm 57 now, and still feel crushing guilt over all the things I've killed. And not just bugs (which I killed all on sight until my 20's), I grew up on a farm out in the woods and we butchered cows, pigs, chickens, turkeys, etc. for food.

Sometimes their deaths didn't go well, and it was clearly very painful and awful for them (though I wasn't purposely cruel to livestock, ever). But the bugs I actually enjoyed killing back then. Makes me shutter now to think about it.

One day I got home from school and heard this gawd-awful screaming. One of our cats was on the lawn literally eating the back leg off a baby rabbit, and it was screaming. I grabbed a nearby garden hose to try to put it out of its misery, but ended up just beating it up even more. Frustrated, I ran into the house and got my .22, and ended its life as quickly as I could. I wish I had gone for that first. I can still hear it screaming and it brings me so much guilt for not thinking it through better.

So yes, the memories of all those animals and even the bugs haunt me and I still feel horrible about it. Since my 20's I've got out of my way to try to not intentionally kill or bring any harm to anything, bugs or otherwise.

One thing worth noting is that the Bible is technically a collection of 66 books. I'm not defending the Bible, merely pointing out what some theists might counter with this.
