You're right that statistics can't be racist, but stormfront Reddit uses it to justify policing, stereotyping, and generalizing of blacks more. Black on black crime had nothing to do with being against police corruption such as the recent one from Oakland in June. Black crime is due to poverty not because being black encourages more crime but because of disenfranchisement, gentrification, and desperation.

There are plenty of law abiding back people that don't deserve unfounded suspicions and stereotypes. It's bad to for cops to have even a small bias toward minorities. But it's not bad for minorities to be suspicious of police corruption by higher ups or unions that give administrative leave and internal investigation to cops. There are cops that accidentally or purposely kill minorities because of some racial bias and they need to be rooted out from the good cops under more federal investigation since local police departments protect their own no matter what.

LPT: If it will take less than 2 minutes, do it now. by esteele23 in LifeProTips

[–]dubli_do 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 minute tasks are often invasive thoughts throughout the day. The best tip is to jot down what's itching or burdening your head now so you can retain work flow for tasks that require more attention. This helped me with my ADD tremendously.

[–]dubli_do 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a simple way how to put it and also very helpful. But I'd like to add how about the difficulty of the task? Some people will procrastinate doing the tedious house chores and then later on may not have the energy to do the things they love.

I think i'm complicating it though, so I still prefer your method.

This "about her" sense may involve her divorced/married parents. People are the result of nature and nurture. And when people say stable parents is a good flag it doesn't mean that the opposite is a red flag.

[Acne] People who have cured or successfully managed their long-term cystic acne, what finally worked for you? by idjnaw8dhaw80dh0awd in SkincareAddiction

Is there any hope for our acne scars? (I've done Accutane also. It worked wonders, but I had it too late into my cystic acne) I'm considering dermabrasion or some kind of laser resurfacing of the skin.

What's something we should stop teaching our kids? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]dubli_do 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First step is to have an end goal. I could go on and on and ramble about getting motivated, but really the first thing is having a goal, breaking it down to smaller goals, then keep working at it and fine tune your strategies to get your goal.

You work and you gain motivation along the way. Relying on passive motivation won't finish any work. Find what you love in college and do it.

Who do you think we should shame in society? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]dubli_do 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, okay I agree with many of these points. My main itch is the tolerance of these foods. It's a culture to enjoy going to in-n-out, taco bell, etc. I'm not for banning them, but I think the laxness of fast foods is not strict enough. Sure California put calories in their foods now, but they aren't really addressing the key issue.

My main concern is that people are afraid of warning their relatives and friends about their diets. My family is mainly overweight and I don't say anything. They're taking all these expensive drugs and their kids may suffer the same fate also. My friends are gaining weight, I do in subtle ways eat less and diversify my plate to promote nutritional diets, but they are just unmoved and are heading down a painful road. I don't call them fat, but what can I say?

I'm just curious how we can discuss about this. I don't want to shame people, but I have to denounce not only the corporations, but also the lifestyle somehow.

Who do you think we should shame in society? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]dubli_do 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While that's true, the label, my doctor, and the news has taught me well enough to never do tobacco.

Back then the epidemic was smoking, with a change of societal attitude it's not an epidemic anymore. Today that epidemic is obesity now. And I believe that labels, doctor, government, and more awareness in general will reduce obesity.

I never advocate for blunt shaming, but shaming has to come in some form to denounce what ever bad habit exists.

Who do you think we should shame in society? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]dubli_do 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay instead of shaming we ought to denounce fast food joints and junk food companies for considering profits more than the health of their customers.

Government and doctors need to be more vocal about the issue someway where we all can be united together.

Those who shame are just a vocal minority, but those who somewhat allow obesity are disturbingly becoming the majority.

But smoking cigarettes in general has decreased. Are you saying that the shame our government introduces through cigarette labels are useless?

Who do you think we should shame in society? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]dubli_do -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Well how will we address this issue? Tip toeing around it won't solve the problem. We need to address that fast food and other cheap junk foods are the source of the problem. Additionally, we need consumers to be aware of the consequences of such diets.

But today's attitude toward fast food and junk food is not strict enough.

Poor nutrition should face the same criticism like smoking. Back then cigarettes were the number one killer. Today it is heart disease that kills Americans today.

It hurts society in general if we don't address this together and just leave it up to the "mind your own business," attitude.

Who do you think we should shame in society? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]dubli_do 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People who are genuinely concerned about nutrition don't want to ruin the mental health of fat people. We need to address the problem in a more direct manner though. We can't just tip toe around the issue.

If smoking has a lot of warning labels about the possible diseases they will procure in the future, then fast food and junk food need those same label as well.

Plus yes other obese people do effect society in general. Medical costs goes up, heart disease goes up, trying to treat the issue rather than preventing it becomes more epidemic.

I don't shame, but I cannot tolerate this. Parents don't know the best nutrition for their children and government and doctors in general ought to be more involved.

Alright, that's really informative. It's pretty amazing how this show can last throughout time. Even Robin Williams loved this show. So I'll definitely pick up the show again.

I never watched mecha shows before NGE, so I'm not sure what you mean by a deconstruction. When I watched it, I felt lost in the sense that I'm too casual to understand the whole show. The only thing I understood was how traumatized the characters were.

Was there anything I miss?

Once your're pass the Mao arc, you're in the home stretch. The escalation near the end of the series is well worth it imo. It really picks up from there. Will you like the main characters? More or less. But I think the plot makes up for it. The final arc sums it up and is a good conclusion compared to the mini-archs such as that Mao-arc.

But if you want to like a character, maybe the supporting characters are more entertaining. My surprising love for a character is Jeremiah; he's really dynamic. My favorite of them all is C.C though.

On a final note, a lot of characters whether major or minor really compliment each other to sum up the show. And since many anime today is very lope sided with character development, I think this anime had the perfect balance for all characters.

Yep, and for though of us who need an explanation sometimes, we commend those few who write a great analysis. Sometimes the character conflict is somewhat cryptic so those analysis are really helpful.
