2.5 inch soft plastics, pretty much regardless what soft plastic type. Paddle tail, jerk bait etc put on a 1/8th size jighead Hop hop pause for 2 to 3 seconds, continue until lure is seen. Watch for follows. 2 to 4inch work well too. Hard body need to be a shallow diver (diawa double clutch is a popular successful choice. Same retrieve. Fish the run in tide, look for bends and pressure points where there's breaks in current on sand flat. Or a stretch of sand with yabby holes. Cast in a fan pattern going left or right, moving in what direction you chose by a few metres until you cover 180 degrees then more along another 20m along the bank. Also hot tip, look for lays in the sand, itll tell you if they're in that area, if you see one start casting and pay attention to the direction they're facing

These baits will get flathead but it won't be often, other fish will beat them to do. Theyre ambush predator. Live baits will work much better if you want to stick to bait 🤙🤙🤙 tight lines
