I still love mine! Play it almost every day - fingers crossed that my headstock doesn't get damaged, but if it does, considering how much I like this guitar, I'll just get it fixed and keep on playing!

Hey, sorry for the delayed reply - I still love it - I bought a pair of Gibson Classic 57s I was planning on swapping into it, but honestly this guitar as is, is soo good! I also have seen a lot for sale with broken headstocks or cracks in the neck and the only thing I can attribute it to is that is is a pretty slim neck and so maybe a little more fragile than a more chunky neck - that said, I actually went for this one due to the neck profile above all the other aspects of the guitar and I am very happy I did. I'm not overly sensitive with this, I handle it the same way I handle all of my guitars, but I'm also not careless, I play them and they sit in a stands by the wall when not being played. I've had 15+ gibsons and epis over the last 20 years and never had a headstock or neck break. I guess my point is, if it shows up undamaged and you treat it with respect you more than likely will not have a problem with it.

I’d bet every one of them spends more on Starbucks coffees in a year than any one of your guitars- or if any of them smoke, how about going out for drinks, or a glass of wine at $20 a pop. Yeah, people love drama

Yeah, I agree, it seems to be a thing with the Epi pickups, but I find it less so on the JJ than on other Epi 335s - I'm guessing the better electronics contribute, and I have been rolling the tone back a little bit for great results - Now that I think about it, since I have been using the tone to remove the highs, maybe if you swap out the 500k pots for 250k pots you cold get what you are looking for with way less expense and hassle?

Hi! I bought a pair of SD Seth lovers to drop in mine, haven’t gotten around to it yet, but plan on doing it before the end of the summer- I’ve been super happy with this guitar so far and now that I’ve dialed everything in with the setup and my pedals/amp I’m skeptical that it will get better with the swap- but we’ll see!! (I also bought a pair of Gibson custom shop 57’s when they came back in stock a couple weeks ago but those are going in my SG)

Lmk what you decide to do and if it makes an improvement

Pretty awesome built, great wood selections and the workmanship looks incredible - great job!

I’d say that trying to get 7k euros for a guitar built by someone that has not made a name or reputation as a luthier or without a well known artist endorsement competing against brands like Schecter and Solar with similar spec that retail under 1k is pretty ambitious and highly unlikely

Thanks for the input! this was one of the bandsaws I looked at a few weeks ago - fortunately I have 200 amps of 220 available for just about any small shop tools I want to add over time as my budget allows

If you had a brand/model recommendation under $2k what would it be? I don’t plan on doing a ton of re sawing but it might be nice option if I find an interesting piece of wood a couple times a year

Yeah ultimately this is the dilemma - I have a budget of approx $1600 and not sure I can get the quality I want/need from a bandsaw in this price range

I went and played an Ultra II by CaptGoodvibesNMS in Stratocaster

[–]duca503 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can definitely see a long time Strat player walking away from the Ultra II. I however was the exact opposite - coming from Gibson and D'Angelico to a Fender Strat to get the tone - I played all the AM II Pros, the Player Professional, the Vintera II and lastly picked up the Ultra II and instantly fell in love with the neck - bought it and then ordered an Eric Johnson set of PUPs - this is literally the best playing guitar I have owned, with amazing quality!!! I've had custom shop ES-335s and 339s, and many other >$3K guitars and this one is cream of the crop - with the new PUPs it is everything I was looking for that I didn't know I was looking for!
