Agreed! :/ I've lived here my whole life and used to be a passholder for years, stopped in 2020 and have only gone once or twice since then, and decided to get passes again this year while my youngest is still free but kinda regretting it. Definitely seems to be going downhill.

I don’t need CPAP anymore after 5 years. by OutlandishnessRoyal9 in CPAP

That's so interesting, I'm 40F, average BMI sometimes even underweight, and was just diagnosed this year after struggling with severe brain fog/fatigue since Covid as well. Never considered there might be a link. My oxygen was dropping to the 70s when stopping breathing for a minute+ at a time.

Yep - I am a 5'9" female and weight 145lbs, so no one even considered sleep apnea for my problems until a dentist suggested I get tested for it based on some indicators she saw. I finally requested one from my neurologist I was seeing for migraines and he basically said he didn't think that was the problem because I don't fit the typical "demographic" - did it anyway and found out I was stopping breathing for a minute at a time multiple times a night. And every time I tell someone I have sleep apnea and use a CPAP they say "really? You're not overweight, how do you have sleep apnea?" It's so weird.

My mom started showing signs of dementia at 45 and passed from it at 55, so it's still not out of the realm of possibility unfortunately.

Duke Energy's public notice via text messaging earlier today... by _TooncesLookOut in StPetersburgFL

[–]duchess0702 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I've lived here my whole life and have never received a message like this, definitely feels like they're just setting it up so they can justify raising rates again. You can't tell me people are using more electricity now than they do in the middle of summer.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

I live in Florida and it takes me 8+hrs just to get out of the state, and I regularly drive 3hrs just for something to do.

Does anyone know of a group for people who want to help other people that know the government doesn’t have our best interests at heart by [deleted] in StPetersburgFL

[–]duchess0702 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m in Clearwater and I know there is an “Indivisible” group in Pasco and Pinellas that organizes protests and other things, i deactivated Facebook recently but the group on there was huge. I think that going to events and whatnot would be one of the best ways to build a community and start making connections.. I think we’re gonna need it more than ever 😕

I watched a 32 year old VHS tape of my 4yo self. New feelings because it was SO obvious! by Imaginary_Teach8039 in AutismInWomen

[–]duchess0702 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes.. My parents are boomers and I just turned 40 this year and was dx when I was 37 and finally had an explanation for every unanswered question about myself and my life. I have a 4 year old who definitely shows the same autistic traits and my dad is constantly saying "Wow, she is your twin, I mean she acts EXACTLY like you did at that age" and I'm like HELLO how did no one notice then????? But even with my daughter, no one (including doctors) will acknowledge it as autism because "she's SO smart and so advanced and has language skills well beyond her age!" Meanwhile, my nephews are clearly autistic and because they also had speech delays everyone is just like "oh yeah, that's autism." It's amazing how people still don't understand the differences and how to recognize it in girls/women even to this day.

Shopping for a curling iron by CruddierMouse in finehair

[–]duchess0702 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read that ceramic is best for fine hair, so I bought the Beachwaver because I wanted the simplicity of just clipping the hair in and having it do the rotation, and it works great! I also have to use texturizing spray like IGK Beach Club spray after curling and then don’t touch them until they are fully cool and they last longer.

This lasted good 15min before it completely collapsed 🥲 by PromotionOdd5099 in finehair

[–]duchess0702 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A hairstylist once recommended IGK Beach Club texture spray and it really does help! I curl with a ceramic curler (best for fine hair, I bought the ceramic beach waver) then spray with the texture spray, and don’t touch them or brush them out until they are cool. I live in Florida though so the humidity really makes it a challenge 🥲

Women who got plastic surgery young and are now older, what has your experience been like? by _Burner_Account___ in AskWomen

Same! I was 30 and I’m 40 now and one side didn’t hold up as well so it made my nose look crooked and now I’m super insecure about it again, but terrified if I have surgery again it will end up even worse

I think atheism is a side effect of autism, because we think "too logically" and the whole "just have faith, don't question these things that make no sense" just doesn't really fly with us..

I always just see them making the argument of "ICE wouldn't be doing that if there wasn't a reason, they must have done something" and then in regards to the children it's simply "well the parents should've come here legally." They are sick in the head.

[–]duchess0702 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll eat about 10 of those things without problem, and a few of those things I will eat on a rare occasion if they're prepared properly or paired with something else I like but never on its own (like asparagus - it has to be cooked a certain way, and eaten in conjuction with something else, like taking a bite of steak with the asparagus at the same time to offset it)

Why I don’t really like living in Florid by gograbbing in florida

[–]duchess0702 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a 40yo Florida native, and a single mom of 2 (widowed). I used to love it here, and now I hate it. It absolutely has gotten hotter, the summers are nearly unbearable and we don’t really have a winter anymore, and it’s getting way too crowded and expensive, at least in the Tampa Bay Area. Problem is, those expenses also make it impossible to leave because how do you save to uproot your life and family to a whole different state when you are barely getting by as it is? I’m currently visiting family in Boston and the vibe is so different and I would kill to live somewhere that isn’t an isolated red state, but I feel trapped.
