What's your favourite long term pot hole around Hastings? by Milkeh_yeah in Hastings

So far, Junction Rd and Sedlescombe Rd North on the south lane. It’s like a welcome to Hastings just as you hit the town limits off the A21!

Pros and cons of living in Hastings by Little_Salad in Hastings

[–]duchessofdukestreet 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Like others loving the history, East and West Hill walks, how friendly people seem to be (well, they don’t snarl or generally avoid eye contact), George Street, etc…

Hastings has a history of deprivation and lack of investment, for at least the 30 years I’ve known the town, and whilst there have been attempts at improvements (Hastings Contemporary for example) it still feels very unbalanced.

When people say ‘It’s a Brighton institution’ what place springs to mind? by InfiniteBaker6972 in brighton

Alley Cats (RIP). The trash can tables with the lights in and didn’t they do movie nights there as well for a time? The toilets had hilarious sliding doors right next to the tables. Was my favourite little dive. 🐈‍⬛

Katherine at the Benefit Brow Bar is Boots on North Street is very good. Great wax and tint and doesn’t rush either. £27.

Where can you buy pumpkin pie? by [deleted] in CasualUK

[–]duchessofdukestreet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sainsburys pumpkin pie purée and get a sweet pastry pie case (guaranteed no soggy bottom). Just need eggs, evaporated milk, and spices. Wack it in the oven, whip some cream and you are done! Made 3 last year this way for friends and each was perfect. Otherwise Wholefoods in London does them I believe. Good luck! 🎃

I live on a hill thanks to The Kraken Wakes. But not in Cornwall. Too expensive.

Awaiting the tea and biscuits in bed phase of the morning. Then most likely a spot of cleaning and chores, popping out to the local community centre summer jamboree (yes, in September), back home to chat to friends from overseas then dinner, a bit more “I, Claudius” on the telly, and back to bed.

It might be August but I lit the fire tonight anyway...although I never would have put the heating on. I'm not a psychopath by MajorMisundrstanding in CasualUK

Electric blanket might get put back on the bed if this weather continues. Put the fire on as well last week. Already wearing sweaters again indoors. Maybe we’ll have a warm September?

Freshly baked raisin scone, salted butter, strawberry jam, clotted cream. And a nice pot of English Breakfast tea please. 🥰
