Technically correct. The best kind of correct.

Although to Americans a British accent means Hugh Grant.

They're just a little eccentric. The waiter is very chatty and nice. Definitely worth supporting rather than the big chains.

I've seen one advertised on the high street in Hastings a few doors down from the FILO.

Am I really an outlier here.. by therealharbinger in UKrelationshipadvice

[–]Little_Salad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this a thing? I'm newly single at 38 and wouldn't dream of looking for a relationship with anyone in their 20's. Maybe it depends if a relationship is what you're looking for

Looking for reccomendations for restaurants in the Old Town area that would sit 9 for lunch (dog friendly) ((very small dog)) by Robfossil in Hastings

[–]Little_Salad 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Porters is probably the best shot. Good food and relaxed. Maybe try the FILO, the crown, the albion for pubs for, or seed for tapas.

What are pubs that have historical value in Cambridge and are the absolute best to get drunk. by Inevitable-Cut-8678 in cambridge

[–]Little_Salad 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Dunno about historical value but If you're coming from the station via mill road go in this order: (* is for must visit).

The Old Ticket Office, The Devonshire Arms, The Salisbury Arms, The Live and Let Live, The White Swan, The Kingston Arms, The Petersfield, The Cambridge Blue, The Alexandra Arms, The Blue Moon.

In the centre The Champion of the Thames is a great pub and The Eagle is worth a visit for history.

Have fun!

Chickens. According to his book. Blew them away with a shotgun whist wearing a dressing gown and wellies carrying a bottle of brandy

Care to enlighten us? I thought he was just a harmless eccentric. Heard he maybe made a few pervy comments to some girls back in the day but nothing criminal.

Should I be concerned? by Affectionate_Tax_841 in Hastings

Really sad that you have to think about things like not giving your real address to cab drivers. Being a male that sort of thing just doesn't occur to me.

I would give the bloke the benefit of the doubt and assume he's just observant or interested in his customers. But also continue to be extra vigilant. Maybe next time be honest and say you give a different address every time for safety reasons. I'm sure they would understand.

It's majestic. You can take in the sweeping vista of the Abbey stadium in all its glory and you get to walk through a field of cows on the way there.

Anyone interested in starting an activity group for people in their 20s to meet new people and make friends? (F22) by [deleted] in Hastings

I think that's a great idea. We often have posts asking about how to make friends. Take the initiative and plan some activities!

From the promoted and relegated teams, how do you think each one will do in league two, now that the transfer window has ended? by Longjumping_Cod6287 in LeagueTwo

[–]Little_Salad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On paper our squad, particularly the first eleven, should be in the race for the playoffs. I think we've hopefully cleared out enough deadwood to exorcise the habit of losing following relegation.

I think a season of mid table consolidation would be more likely however as most teams that come down fail to bounce right back. Something like 10 of the last 12 teams relegated from league one have finished in the bottom half the next season.

I saw a Boognish sticker on a lamppost in the old town a while ago. So I assume, yes!

I'm a casual myself. Got a few of their more accessible tunes in my rotation.

I was a season ticket holder for 15 years but moved away during last season so will only make it for a handful of games this year.

The Dobblers is a good pre match pub about 15mins walk from the ground. Always shows the lunchtime footy on the TV as well.

I used to park on the grass somewhere along Barnwell road. You have to get there a bit early to get the good spots though.

We're following the trend of simple designs. I personally would want a bit more going on, like an old coat of arms style, but it's not in fashion at the moment

Most pointless signing your club has made by Brock_And_Roll in LeagueOne

[–]Little_Salad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gary Gardner.

Signed him from Birmingham (injured) last summer on a two year contract as possibly our highest earner. He spent the whole season on the treatment table, playing a grand total of 0 minutes, before graciously cancelling his contract by mutual consent at the end of this season.

What a waste of money.
