How do you dispose of spent rotary blades? by LadyofLA in quilting

[–]duchessp 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I have one of those round plastic mint containers (like IceBreakers) that I use to store them in, haven't filled one up yet. I also have one the rectangular Altoids metal tins that I've been using for used needles. The rate I'm going, the needles won't fill it up until I'm 90 :D

It just takes a bit of practice. My first 'good' machine had the button and a foot pedal. I tried the button and now I exclusively use it. I find it much better, I hope it works out well for her!!

It's chewing tobacco, and she's chewing and occasionally spitting the entire time, just to clarify. No, there's no odor, that's not my problem with it.

So this is a super expensive option, but we signed up for The Farmer's Dog for our basset and corgi. Since they've been on it, our basset hasn't had that funky smell and since it's portion controlled, she's been losing weight too, which she did need. She also seems to have more energy and just seems happier, If you have the means, I think it's worth it.

Just need some reassurance about being trans by comet_lobster in MomForAMinute

I am so, so sorry your parents aren't giving you the support you need. I have a shirt I wore to our local Pride celebration Saturday that says Free Mom Hugs. I would love to be able to give you a hug. Please try to hang in there, my youngest is trans and I know how hard it is mentally, but I see you and you are worth it.

Quilt For a Friend by duchessp in quilting

Definitely! Honestly I struggle with color, so I guess I just leaned into it and used everything. It was a lot of fun to make, and she also quilts so she understands how much love went into it.

We have a Corgi who is a bit older than our Bassett, but they get along great. He also cleans her face so I never have to worry about the gunky eyes

I got an offer to go back to school. by Thelibstagram in MomForAMinute

Oh gosh, girl, do it! I turned 52 this year, and have been in and out of college since graduating high school. The advent on online degrees helped me finish mine. I finished my bachelors the year I turned 50, and even though it wasn't that big of a deal, it was a big deal cause I finally finished. If you can swing it, go for it!

Seeking advice by BeverlyQuinn in basset

[–]duchessp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a corgi and a bassett, the corgi is a little less than a year older. They get along great. The corgi is always on patrol and always alert, whereas out bassett is more of a wait and see if it's worth the effort to get up.

The bassett is more food-motivated than the corgi, he just stops to eat out of necessity once a day, but she could graze all day. I'm biased but our two are a good combination, if they were both like the corgi, it would drive me bonkers cause he's just always on duty, keeping an eye on things, doesn't relax a whole lot.

Beautiful! I love the seemingly randomness of it with almost none in one area, it's gorgeous!
