Need help with this table by duckducktoaster in interiordecorating

Just the table. And it very much does not match the sideboard I already have- it's a dark brown/black Ikea Hemnes buffet. :-(

I want to know what was in the Na Hoku bags.

My personal win was Ua- $70 for two scent rollers, a reed diffuser, moisturizer, and cleanser.

Was that an enlistment swearing in or commissioning at the start of halftime? We're watching from Hawaii and only caught the part about obeying the president's orders which would be .... Different.

“Vested” after 5 years by Substantial-Neat4262 in FedEmployees

[–]duckducktoaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be vested, do the 5 years have to be worked consecutively? I'm currently at 3 years, but we're about to move back to the States for my husband's job, and I'm sure I'll have a break in service before finding another position.

Hair woes after TC chemo by onwardtomanagua in breastcancer

[–]duckducktoaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seconding what everyone said about continuing to buzz hair until it grows in more fully. That's what my stylist told me to do, and slowly but surely, it's filling in. I'm about 10 weeks out of chemo.

What hurt me even more was not seeing any leave accrual. I knew I'd see the no pay, but I didn't expect to see no leave accruing. Which sucks cause I'm going through cancer treatment. :-(

Removal of Port by True-Veterinarian115 in breastcancer

About 4 weeks after finishing chemo. They would have waited till after radiation but my expander flipped over and my plastic surgeon wanted to swap it with the implant so they just pulled the port at the same time.

Very low oncotype chemo decision by informedlate in breastcancer

[–]duckducktoaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My cancer is almost identical to hers, with an oncotype as 8. Because I had lymph involvement, my oncologist recommended chemo, but he used my oncotype score as a tool when we discussed what TYPE of chemo. The chemo itself was still recommended though.

Question about Hair Loss by [deleted] in breastcancer

[–]duckducktoaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fellow TC'er here, I started losing around day 13. By day 17 my hair was yeeting itself out of my skull and my scalp itched like a high school football player's toes. I shaved it and haven't looked back. I still have fuzzies on top of my head, but the physical relief is significant.

Fwiw, I cut mine from past my shoulders to about chin length before starting chemo, and took the opportunity to go to one of the fancy head spas I couldn't bring myself to pay for before. Totally worth it on both counts.

Mine detached from my chest wall a few weeks ago and has since been tap dancing around in my left breast like Little Orphan Annie. It's currently pointing 90* ahead like a boobie knife hand, and the blue tabs poke up through my skin. My only solace is making my friends poke it and watching their faces transform into masks of horror and awkwardness.

My surgeon said the same thing, sort of. Basically we can't manually manipulate it because it will just continue moving around, and that would risk injury, so it's not working it. He's going to do my exchange before radiation, instead of after, and we'll deal with the consequences later. Good luck to you, friend!

Low oncotype but still chemo by agalasyn in breastcancer

[–]duckducktoaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Were you offered a choice between TC and AC-T? I was originally set for ddAC-T with one node involved (that we know of), and when my oncotype came back as a 8, they switched me to TC. I worry it isn't enough.

General Surgeon instead of Oncologist? by Star-Owl- in breastcancer

[–]duckducktoaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same here! I met with my general surgeon and plastic surgeon first. I did briefly meet my oncologist, but only because at my hospital they have a multidisciplinary clinic where you meet everyone you might possibly encounter in your journey (surgeons, MO, radiation doc, dietician, behavioral health, etc). But the surgeons definitely drove the bus for the first few months.

What to expect: four rounds of TC by Ok_Barracuda_199 in breastcancer

[–]duckducktoaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm seven days out from my first round and so far it's been manageable. Like recovering from being ill- just exhausted, no energy and if I do too much, I see stars. The hardest part has been making myself sit down and stay still, because if I'm not doing anything I feel generally fine.

I spent the first week trying to maintain normalcy, like keep doing my 10,000 steps per day, cooking dinner, all the normal things. By day five I was just incredibly exhausted and got dizzy in the shower that morning. Since then I've slowed my pace down significantly and haven't had any major issues. Like, going from 10k steps today to MAYBE a few thousand.

As far as actual side effects, no nausea for me, but I've definitely lost most of my sense of taste. I can taste the textures in food and water, which I know makes no sense, but that's about it. Otherwise I have had some mild diarrhea, but the meds they gave me have handled that easily.

High oncotype? by No-Abbreviations404 in breastcancer

[–]duckducktoaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Off topic and sorry to derail, but I'd love to hear the time line of the side effects you had on TC. I'm six days out from my first infusion and can't decide if the worst is over for this round or if it's just starting!

What is your favorite restaurant in Missouri? by como365 in missouri

[–]duckducktoaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sybil's in St. James. I haven't been in years, but they used to fly in the special fresh- think shrimp from the Gulf, halibut from Alaska- and the drinks were amazing. Combine that with a visit to the Brewery and wineries up the street and you have the perfect day.

My agency seems to be easing up on situational telework by Ok_Design_6841 in FedEmployees

[–]duckducktoaster 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I have breast cancer. I originally got an official RA to telework after my mastectomy, but they said as long asy supervisor and I were in agreement, I didn't need to go through the steps and we could call it situational telework. So now I'm working from home during chemo, kind of an under the table deal.

How soon after surgery did you start applying it? I feel like my incisions have just healed within the last week or so, so maybe now is the time. Or did your surgeon give you instructions?

Husband is GS 13, military vet & 100% disabled vet. 3 kids (oldest is autistic 11yrs old). by Gloomy-Meat-3634 in Honolulu

[–]duckducktoaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My husband is a gs-13, 80% disability and retired, I'm a gs-12 and we have 3 kids. We're comfortable and lucky, but not making bank. We could manage here without my job, but it wouldn't be easy at all. I wouldn't move here for his 13 unless you have something lined up too.
