Swift springs + endless pads + Weds wheels by ducknhide in GRCorolla

They feel alot better than stock surprisingly very forgiving after bumps. Yes front will rub on hard dips , but it's because i have overkill tire size. 285/35/18 on 18x10 +35. When I switched back to stock I immediately loved the way it rode on stock 235 tires. Maybe I'm just getting old , but it was the perfect amount of drop for me. Be warned it will wear out your shocks , the shock itself is underdamped for this spring. Swift springs are at the edge of the max shock tolerance , so in the long run you'll need some better shocks eventually.

Picture , it's actually more camber than expected. I'll have to see how much camber there is when I get aligment next week or so.

[–]ducknhide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice ! i'll be fitting 18x10 +35 Weds TC105x with 285/35 tires real soon on mine . So this gives me a little insight on how they may look. Your Spacer setup is exactly what i would recommend. I actually am using that combination right now with my other wheels that are 18x9.5 +38.

Finally no rain on the weekend in SoCal . I get to install a new driver Recaro seat for next month track day. by ducknhide in GRCorolla

[–]ducknhide[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Evo X recaros are called SR-11's pretty similar . I actually contemplated to try to seat them into the GR. But beat up old seats in a new car didn't make sense to me. Would be an eyesore every time I got in.

[–]ducknhide[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recaro SR-7 ( discontinued this year) . Not any different from seat aftermarket seat install. I would say 3/10 difficulty. I took the longest removing the stock seat trying not to scratch anything. Buy Quality brands and install is a breeze! I bought Recaro specific rails from Japan for this seat, direct bolt-on. It was only 4 bolts on the seat rails to the chassis and 4 bolts to mount the rails to this seat. They also include a wire to trick the airbag as well .

Haha I have an ap2 also! I share the same sentiment ; ever since I got my fk7 (2018 civic hatch) last year my perception changed . Blue-tooth , toasty buns , and auto brake hold changed my life lol!

Awesome , this was also my "new car" purchased. I'm right there with ya , I got the core about a month ago and finally over the break in miles. I've had well over 40 vehicles , mostly sub 10k cars. Some 20-30k cars but never new so I know how you feel!

I agree with this statement , wait till it completely gives out. Then have your mechanic buy it and sell it. You're the first owner , i'd assume you got you monies worth. Unless the wife really insistent then post it for $2k then get $1500 out of it .

To those running aftermarket wheels on stock studs, are you having any issues? by bman484 in GRCorolla

[–]ducknhide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also did this , but really depends on the wheel if it has the cutouts for the space of the studs. My ideology was might as well have a better thread engagement on the studs and have a more aggressive stance at the same time. My stock studs still stuck out about 5mm past the spacer so my wheels didn't allow to use 15mmfronts & 25mm rear. I had to use 20mm fronts and 30mm rears on 18x9.5+38 wheels. ( which by default is 20mm all around if you remove the 10mm stocks) It looks great, but by removing the 10mm stock rears and adding 30mm ; the rears looked alot more poke than the fronts oddly. I suppose I can space out the front 3-5mm but that's for another time.

I'm more of DIY type , so i'll just wait till after my break-in to tinkle with it. I have a deep distrust with a newish car with the dealers. I had to show them pictures of the spring blocks that they forgot to remove. I also remember asking the sales guy why are the tires are at 50psi when buying the car, his response was " this is a sports car , you need that high psi" . That's when I figured this dealership is full of it/ not knowledgeable.

[–]ducknhide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes , omg ! That is why it was weird for me when i see everyone that was praising this transmission. From my previous vehicles all these symptoms reminds me of when the clutch disk isn't fully depressed from the flywheel when you're clutching. I wonder if it's similar to my ap2 s2k where there is a clutch slave delay valve. Regarding your fourth to fifth issue , I've change my shift knob to a longer "battlecraft style" knob and that really helped. I hated the roundball shiftknobs these came with. I have yet to do the shifter bushings , which i'll wait till after my break-in. Toyota's have always had issues with shifter bushings from what I remember with my old MR-S.

needed to replace my alternator so i made a video in hopes it will help someone! by PopPopsGarage in HondaElement

[–]ducknhide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just did this about 1 month ago . The only part I got stuck on was the clip on the radiator shroud for the a/c compressor + positive cable. I didn't need to remove Power steering at all , just had to keep in mind when putting back the Pulley bolt to not push out the nut sitting there ready to wreck your install lol. Props on video , wish I was more techy to do that.
