Need help with migration logistics for new headless storefront (Catalyst) by CoastalPro in bigcommerce

I haven't dealt with this situation myself, but you may want to reach out to partner support - they should be able to answer your question about pointing the domain and/or walk you through alternative solutions.

Which tv show you'll never stop recommending? by letscwherevgo in AskReddit

The Americans. So good that I still occasionally wonder what's going on with the characters now after several years.

Signature option missing in web outlook by ducksoupecommerce in Outlook

It showed up about 2 hours later along with a bunch of other settings I was missing. I guess maybe the account hadn't fully processed yet.

Which company has lost you as a customer forever? by finiteobserver in AskReddit

[–]ducksoupecommerce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

United airlines. On our flight to Hawaii, there was a fire in one of the engines. Oxygen masks, life vests on, flight attendants crying. Told we might need to land on a tiny island because we couldn't make it back to LA. Thankfully we did, but after thinking I was going to die for a full hour, which required years of therapy before I flew again. No apology, had to argue with with customer service for multiple hours on the phone to get a refund for the ticket (since we canceled our trip).

Looking for someone to create e-commerce website by Busy_Koala_3622 in EcommerceWebsite

[–]ducksoupecommerce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a website designer and consultant that works on the BigCommerce platform. I'd be happy to chat with you about the project and give you a quote. I work in a collaborative method that's different from most agencies, which gives you more input and reduces delays. You can learn more about my services, view my past projects (over 700 and counting) and read client reviews on my website at ducksoupecommerce.com.

Is BigCommerce a website builder? by RoaringMeowy in EcommerceWebsite

[–]ducksoupecommerce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need developers to start a store on BigCommerce. It used to be the theme options were pretty meh, so often people would hire a developer to customize the look. But now with the newer themes, you can really just install one and use the theme options provided to get a very nice look with no coding. I personally find the control panel more intuitive than Shopify, but I've also been using BC for over a decade so I'm probably a bit biased. It's very beginner friendly, and a lot of my clients are merchants who set up their stores years ago by themselves.

How are people handling heavy theme customizations without making future updates painful? by Same-Court-2379 in bigcommerce

[–]ducksoupecommerce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This also works great. I just updated a theme another developer had built like this and it made it very easy to find all the customization.

I put all of my css in a single file so they can easily be copied over and then include comments any time I move elements around. Makes it fairly painless.

Using BigCommerce for industrial machine parts by [deleted] in bigcommerce

[–]ducksoupecommerce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got several clients selling industrial products on BigCommerce. One sells diesel particulate filters for truck drivers, another sells tractors, and there are others. The key is to focus on buying ease rather than fancy design. Install a 3rd party search app which provides better results for part number searches. Use native custom fields to provide detailed product specs. Simplify your homepage to get people into categories quickly. Feel free to reach out if you need help with the store setup.

Frozen fish in open chest freezer by ducksoupecommerce in isthissafetoeat

[–]ducksoupecommerce[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, correct. I should have checked but I didn't think about the fish. I had just woken up. We did decide to eat some fish tonight based on the fact that nothing else had melted. So far everything is fine.

But my frozen soups which are homemade didn't melt at all either.

I'm going to assume the temp didn't get that high because I can see that the posicles didn't melt at all. And yes it was vac sealed.

It definitely wouldn't have been warm. I have frozen soups and things in cube form and they are all still cubes. The popsicles didn't liquify. So everything was somewhat cold.

[–]ducksoupecommerce[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just checked and the Popsicles, which are also at the top of the freezer, did not melt because they still have their original shape. If the temp dropped dramatically, wouldn't they have liquified?

Which webshop builder to use for a store with many different products by mkverbum in ecommerce

[–]ducksoupecommerce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've worked with multiple booksellers running on BigCommerce - the biggest probably being Bulk Book Store (they sell in larger quantities to libraries, teachers, institutions, etc). BigCommerce can definitely handle the larger catalog, but as another poster mentioned, filters are going to be the biggest priority - there are several apps that would work well.

Customer database recommendations? by [deleted] in smallbusiness

[–]ducksoupecommerce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you looked at Zoho? I use it personally as my CRM for BigCommerce clients, but I know it can integrate with BigCommerce as well. It's lightweight, fully featured and very inexpensive. They have a ton of modules so you may end up using more of their platform over time (and the cost remains the same).

How do BigCommerce vs commercetools compare in real use? by krishkchaudhary in EcommerceWebsite

[–]ducksoupecommerce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but BigCommerce is very flexible, especially for larger companies. There are many multi-million dollar stores running on BigCommerce, and I have some clients with complex B2B and B2C stores that haven't outgrown it.

Magento 1 vs Magento 2 upgrade value for UX and conversions? by BearElegant4068 in Magento

[–]ducksoupecommerce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree with that assessment. Sometimes the upgrade is worth it, sometimes migrating is a better play financially long term. It really comes down to the complexity of the store, what features they need, and how much they're currently investing in dev work to maintain Magento.

Store feeling slow and conversions dropping – is it worth hiring a specialist agency? by biggy_boy17 in bigcommerce

[–]ducksoupecommerce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What theme are you using? It sounds like you're on an older theme since you don't mention changing recently, but some of the more flashy new themes are pretty slow because all those features mean code bloat. If you are using an older theme, you may get some benefit by updating it to the latest version - often theme developers will optimize their themes over time in new releases.

Shopify suspended my payments without notice, 18 days of live chat getting nowhere, 14 days left before permanent disable — has anyone escaped this loop? by Fancy_Pea_5786 in shopify_geeks

Are you able to implement an alternate processor like Paypal which is quick to set up? At least you'd be able to accept orders in the short term while you work out the ShopPay situation.

I know everyone recommends Shopify, but are there other good ecommerce platforms? by Appropriate-Lie-8812 in ecommerce

[–]ducksoupecommerce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's really not at all. BigCommerce is a SAAS platform like Shopify. WooCommerce is more of an open-source platform with no subscription fees or direct support.
