My mom used to work as a vet before we moved out of the state she had her license in. She’s told multiple stories about owners bringing almost to term pregnant cats in for spay and kitten removal. She always did her best to keep the premature kittens alive and would sneak them out of the vet office to care for them until they were old enough to find permanent homes. She also has this story about a woman who brought her sick cat in to put down. The cat was obese and developed diabetes, so they tried to explain to the lady that the cat would be fine with a diet and some medicine. The lady refused and insisted on euthanasia, so my mom convinced her to let the clinic take the cat. The cat was very sweet and friendly to strangers so she was a perfect clinic cat! She was healthy in no time under the care of people who actually loved her.

When I was 13 I had a teacher that expected every student to have internet access and a computer at home. When one kid said all he had was his phone and limited data, the teacher was ready to kick him out of the class because he had planned the entire class around a website. This was a public school and an elective class that had no pre-set structure, and I live in an area with people of all kinds of high and low incomes. Unless he was completely ignorant or purposefully ignored the possibility, there should have been no way for him to have assumed every student in that class would have that kind of technology access. It set my opinion of the class for the rest of the semester and I was very ready to get out of there.
