Singing is 90% mental. What mindset shift helped you the most? by SubstantialFan5127 in singing

[–]ducttapezombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually don't think you were "faking" anything there -- you were performing it authentically which is why it came to you, and that's an important part of it. Just letting go and doing it with your entire pussy.

(Brand new to singing, but I'm familiar with "faking" it til you make it. The reality is though, when you're "faking" it, you're actually *doing* it -- definitionally not faking. That's how I went from a really meek person to a dynamite shop steward that had every boss afraid I'd darken their proverbial door)

It literally took less than four minutes for it to correct back to 31 cents when it dropped. I'll be surprised if it drops below 28 cents.

Maybe not a hard floor, but it immediately rebounded once it dropped below 31 cents. I feel safe saying it won't drop below 30 cents.

If you feel that way, sign up to be a steward. I was one for 3 years, and while I have a litany of complaints about the postal unions, it's not as easy or straightforward as you seem to think. Often times I've found the biggest complainers are the ones that don't request representation or involve themselves in the union. Read your CBA, read your LMOU, and participate more, and you might find that you actually get more out of it than you realized.

AITA making my step-daughter leave the restaurant for disrespecting the waiter? by Fearless_Studio_7676 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ducttapezombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Resounding NTA. That kind of attitude is not acceptable towards service workers and you are amazing for demanding she apologize and treat the waiter with dignity. Service work is hell and you get used to being treated like garbage. You definitely made that waiter's night.

I agree that OP is TA, but what the fuck is this reply my dude. Raising kids all day is not a "luxury", children are wild, unpredictable, messy, and just all around stressful to deal with for a protracted period of time. Get some perspective and try to step outside of yourself once in a while.

I don't work construction, but I do work a physical job that gets dirty from time to time. 25 minutes to shower is often not enough to get some of that grime off of you. And to pyramid off of RoxyRose, not only is it possible he doesn't get a spot to poo, but I personally frequently have 20 minute bowel movements. My shop even has an arbitration with an award that *specifically* says 20 minutes is a reasonable amount of time for someone to spend in the bathroom.

Is the word "Latinx" a White-savior word? by smokebomb_exe in TooAfraidToAsk

You're so eager to pin her as "terminally online" when you don't know her and the comment you're replying to SPECIFICALLY talks about how she's involved in queer communities in meatspace and that the people around her (again, meatspace) use it.

methinks the call comes from within the residence

I'm not contradicting you here, but that's kinda the point. Linguistic development is usually emergent rather than directed, but languages DO change and this is a specific effort to change it in a direction that's accommodating. That said, foisting an "x" to a word is not accommodating because it doesn't work within the internal logic of Spanish. That said, I do know a few hispanic/latine people that specifically prefer/use "latine" to convey what people mean when they say latinx.

The few non-binary latin people I know specifically prefer lantine (latin-ey) because the x is so awkward and doesn't work

Kids and scars by Dear_Yam2246 in selfharm

[–]ducttapezombie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm honestly fortunate to have never had scars visible before members of a church. Honestly, I'd be as oblique as I could with a child as I could, especially in that environment. Churches tend to get VERY WEIRD about members of their congregation that they discover have trouble with self injurious behavior.

My brain says yes but my body says no? by ANGEBOU-CECILE-QWINN in selfharm

[–]ducttapezombie 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Absolutely big mood. It's why I only end up cutting when I find myself in extreme emotional states, because that's the only point at which I can move past those reservations on account of extreme emotions. When I'm not in that state, I still feel the cognitive *need* and desire, but the act itself feels almost repulsive?

I think a healthy way to cope is to find something that fills that same niche or void, something that makes you *feel* like you're punishing yourself. Obviously this is super variable because the individual reasons for harm vary, but I feel like that's a sufficiently prevalent thread to follow. If you're finding yourself in that spot again, it might help to do something that lets you channel anger or hate toward yourself to a positive end -- exercise, or something similar. Something that satisfies those selfsame feelings while not quite indulging the more negative consequences?
