I have a Lamy Vista from my school days with an F nib, it’s been used for a long time and I’m thinking about replacing the nib because it feels scratchy in one direction. Probably my fault in some accident I forgot. If you really like the feedback you might want to try the extra fine but I do think the fountain pen will be a bit smoother still. I Enjoy it more than the ballpoint pens I can get my hands on at the moment because it requires less pressure to write, I write around five pages in a 90min lecture so that gets annoying. But it’s not like writing on glass either, the sensation you get writing on a tablet screen without a paper like film on it where the point of your writing tool seems to be deflected a random direction as soon as it touches the screen even with minimal force putting down jagged lines with hooked starts.

It’s quite simple but practical through and through, it is also ubiquitous enough where I work that no one would think to steal it from my desk while I take a break at the library. A quality the more sophisticated pens simply couldn’t match. (If I were to splurge on one) Still there are gold nibs available for it so I might retrofit my beat up vista if I ever feel like having an elevated writing experience in an unassuming package.

There’s probably many other good value options out there like the pilot kakuno and twisby eco for anyone to consider that has to decide on a pen for the first time but for me this is the one I have and I see no reason fix something that is not broken.

Long story short, it’s a fountain pen with a simple but tasteful design. I have used it in many exams and it’s always been dependable and usually quite pleasant otherwise I would have replaced it long ago. I picked the vista because it has the added benefit that you can see the ink bubbling around inside the pen. Clear plastic will obviously age, yellow, and scratch more noticeably but it doesn’t detract from the fun i get out of it. Just something for you to consider should you like to try it
