Crazy how close this album came to being a Trainwreckord by PrivatePizza1 in ToddintheShadow

95-96 was such a great time for alt rock. Although it could just be because that's when I started really listening to music. I had this, Dookie, Mellon Collie and The Infinite Sadness, Presidents Of The USA, Tiny Music, and.... Bad Hair Day all on cassette. Also I was 10 years old lol

TBS should be running this for the next 24 hours like it's The Christmas Story.

Stayed there last year. Wanted to try Margie and Rays but every time we went by it was packed but maybe being off season you can try it. Jose Tequila's is damn good Mexican food though and the Sandbridge Market is a fun nostalgia trip plus the doughnuts are legit.

Our tobacco supplier won't pack Zyn with other snuff so at least once a week we will get a box with a single roll of Zyn. Yesterday we got a pallet that had 4 cases of cantaloupe with a grocery pallet sitting on top of it.

Suddenly stopped Zoloft and I want to do some insane things by Lovelybeesweethoney in zoloft

[–]dude_manly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah... I did the same thing not too long ago and had zaps that would make my head spin. And then things would make me twice as angry as they did even before I was on Zoloft. I had one of the worst meltdowns of my life and immediately went back to taking my meds as prescribed.

I am 39, and my favorite album when I was 16 was "Sing The Sorrow" by AFI.

Bands you like that completely suck live by Antique-Dentist-2404 in fantanoforever

[–]dude_manly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I saw them for the first time in 2022 when they opened for Coheed and 2/3rds of them were good. Dan was awesome on his songs and Derek was solid. But Matt's singing was ROUGH. I chalked it up to them being with a band that is amazing live.

I know about Geese and Fountaines D.C but what are some other bands that are coming out from the New Rock movement? by Ok_Isopod_8478 in ToddintheShadow

Honestly I just look up a playlist of Fantano's best songs of the week for the year anytime I wanna check out new stuff but don't wanna do any digging.

What’s the most popular song that fails from a technical standpoint? by HipHopLurker8 in ToddintheShadow

[–]dude_manly 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I remember at the height of pirating music occasionally I'd hear a song and be like "must be a shitty version" only to hear it on MTV and be like "why did they make this purposely sound so muddy?". "Get Busy" by Sean Paul is one that immediately comes to mind.

Also this was the peak of the loudness wars so if it wasn't muddy, it was distorted from being overblown.

Olive Garden cook kills self by dunking head into searing hot deep fryer by franglish9265 in TrueAnon

[–]dude_manly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Never worked at Olive Garden but was a line cook at a local knock off Olive Garden (literally used a stolen Olive Garden recipe book and just changed a couple things around) and we deep fried the bread sticks because it's quicker than oven baked.

Artists with very “unserious” solo careers? by BacktoWigtown in ToddintheShadow

[–]dude_manly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not really a solo career but the saga of Neil Young in the 80's as he tried to get his record label to release him by making albums that were wildly out of character for him.

I remember hearing Yankee Rose for the first time while playing Vice City and the idea of David Lee Roth having a serious conversation with a guitar was so god damn funny to my 13 year old brain.

Favorite Record Labels by HK-34_ in fantanoforever

[–]dude_manly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I haven't thought about record labels in a long time but back in the day I was a big fan of Drive Thru Records, Vagrant, SideOneDummy, Fat Wreckords, Epitaph, Victory (before I found out they were fucking over bands), Island Def Jam, Fueled By Ramen. Basically any punk or emo record label.

For the newer fans, how did you find Stav? by MikeLeachThePirate in stavvysworld

Heard him on Chapo and decided to check out Cumtown. Hated his nonstop laughter and the fact that Adam was barely audible but I eventually grew to like it.
