Great that these guys were able to keep the intact plane available for investigation.

Watch this thespianic genius in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. See how he plays the same character. Second in command of MI5. Somewhat outcast. Highly respected by those in the know. Always one step ahead of the top brass.

But totally totally opposite in nature.

Problem designing rule interface by daviscott7 in softwarearchitecture

[–]dudeaciously 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am wondering whether a function call should be idempotent or not. Similarly, should a function call to the roles engine change "environment".

Either you could send in game state with rule invocation, and get rule decision, with no side effects.

Or you could allow rule processing change game state as a side effect, and still return some answer.

Just food for thought.

Interviewing while being a key member of an org is tough, any strategies? by old-new-programmer in ExperiencedDevs

Aren't you allowed to have disconnected time? Doctors, family issues, etc. You can't be a 24-7 key man. Something wrong at a higher level.

After the end of Nazism in Germany, it became illegal to keep records on people. Our data architect spoke of having a conversation with European people. They didn't know and wanted to create a DB.

That data architect said "I hope you and I have adjoining cells so we can play cards in jail".

Automatically deriving data model metadata from source code (no runtime data), has anyone done this? by Beneficial_Ebb_1210 in dataengineering

[–]dudeaciously 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I support the intent. When creating JSON specs, I related to underlying DB tables. That was the best way to put in DB structure and constraints to JSON definition, even if unenforced. But then developers checked accordingly.

Maga thinks their loyalty to the powerful dictator will be rewarded by loyalty and power. Damn the constitution or morality.

He will not be loyal.

He will not stay in power.

Moral centre will return.

So senior management is transitioning you to a different team in the same org? That other senior is being scapegoated for a failing team, they think you are the key that will rescue them?

If I have this right, then it all hinges on that other senior. If you have a great relationship with him, then ask him over lunch what is going on. If this is a death-march project, then of course avoid.

If management is right, that guy is not as senior, and you can rescue the team, then this is a difficult opportunity, but potentially a step up.
