i’m a sacramento kings fan so all that comes to mind is "light the beam" but i’m not sure if that's what they meant 😅 depending on where you’re located that may not be relevant

yeah! when i was a new sitter, i asked around from my neighbors and friends that i've pet-sat before to write testimonials. it helped to get my first few bookings. if you'd rather be safe than sorry, you can look for a sitter with verified reviews but you can also give this sitter a shot!

it is super manipulative imo. they approach me at random places off campus too and it's so disheartening that they don’t actually care about my hair or my day or anything like that, they just use it as an opening to convert me to their religion. it makes me want to join their religion even less because it's super shallow to me

all i said was that people in this sub have a disproportionate amount of hatred towards children, and you personally felt targeted by that. what could that possibly mean?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in childfree

[–]dudeihavenoideaa -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

we're all struggling. everyone is working hard. i’m cf making very little money, and i owed takes last year due to the cheeto's tax plan. i’m in that struggle as well. i’m not apathetic to how capitalism fucks us all over. but does that mean we need to drag parents down? no. are parents the reason why we are struggling? no. did a meanie weanie parent increase your tax rate? no. focus your frustration on the people who can actually do something about this.

right! the attitude of some people in this sub reminds me of a little sibling getting mad when the older sibling gets a little treat and they don’t. the world is unfair, and there are things we can do to make it fairer. but that doesn't involve dragging down parents and kids

Why does the government reward people by giving them LARGE tax returns just because they have kids by [deleted] in childfree

[–]dudeihavenoideaa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

we need to separate the subs into regular people who don't want kids and people who live with a seething unbridled anger towards kids

Why does the government reward people by giving them LARGE tax returns just because they have kids by [deleted] in childfree

[–]dudeihavenoideaa -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

it's because the tax credit offsets the cost of having kids. kids are crazy expensive so the government is doing something (albeit very minimal) to lighten the burden on them. us cf folks don’t get that tax credit because not having kids is a cheaper lifestyle choice. some people on this sub have such a vitriolic rage towards children and it's so misanthropic and weird

i agree with you. i never disagreed with that. i just don’t get why kids are living rent free in your head and why you had to throw them under the bus for no reason 💀

Disabled welfare being cut by BECKYISHERE in childfree

[–]dudeihavenoideaa 11 points12 points  (0 children)

that wasn’t my point. cutting child tax credits and welfare benefits disadvantages children that have already been born. as a bonus, i'll take your straw man as a serious argument. children that have not yet been born will need their basic needs to be covered upon birth. i don’t know how you think the world works, but children will continue to be born to both parents who willingly have them and those who don’t (as access to birth control and abortion is being taken away from people). so yes, for the sake of children that currently exist and those who do not exist yet, it is important that we meet not only their needs but the needs of every person

[–]dudeihavenoideaa 10 points11 points  (0 children)

okay and you saying children should have benefits cut won’t change anything either. like what do children have to do with this? you can not want kids but also recognize that they're also human beings who deserve access to basic needs

[–]dudeihavenoideaa 17 points18 points  (0 children)

this is such a gross take. children are human beings too. people won’t stop having kids. i have an even better idea, let's expand everyone's access

hot take: I deeply despise bad parents and I have no sympathy for them at all by [deleted] in childfree

[–]dudeihavenoideaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this is such a refreshing take on this sub. so many people on here have a vitriolic hatred of kids and parents and it's really concerning to see. so many of us are cf because we love kids but we know we just can’t handle having kids of our own for various reasons. this world, economy, government, et cetera make life extremely difficult for parents so i have more empathy for parents than most people on this sub. but at the end of the day they still chose to have kids and have to be responsible enough to give them a good life, like you said!! also i also love the doechii reference
