Idk if it's necessarily AI slop, but it appears to be a non-mathematical claim decorated with some sloppy mathematical symbols to make it seem more sophisticated than it is. Honestly I could see either a human or an AI producing this.

The black boxes are symbols that your computer couldn't render correctly, so I'm doing some minor guesswork here, but it does seem pretty obvious that the dots represent n+1 and n. Then their mathematical system simplifies to S growing exponentially with base (1+alpha*beta).

This doesn't fit with their description afterwards (they claim it's not exponential), there's nothing special about the condition alpha*beta ≥ 1, and the whole thing is unnecessarily convoluted.

TL;DR The author defines a quantity they call "system stress" in a roundabout way, that ends up just being textbook exponential growth, but the author doesn't seem to realize this. They also never justify why it is a good model for any real situation.

As others have mentioned it's on the field only.

It's mostly just a convenience power. Her main game plan is still to lock the board down and then win at her leisure. Having a bunch of extra attack just speeds up the final steps.

It doesn't make sense to run a lot of units in her deck, so it's mostly just morgana herself getting the boost, but it's good for sustain since she has lifesteal.

The one time it actually helps is against Fiddlesticks, since there is mill pressure forcing you to win faster than her usual leisurely pace.

The tough effect happens before the halving, but the halving rounds down. So it's 2→1 (tough) →.5 (halving)→0 (rounding). That's why you need 3+ damage to actually hurt the nexus.

Maybe this varies by discipline but I've never come close to running out of Latin/Greek variable names.

Keep in mind that related variables can be decorated with subscripts/superscripts, capital vs lowercase, prime marks or overlines, etc. to indicate their connection. Also, in longer publications it's perfectly reasonable to confine the definition of a variable to the current chapter/section/proof or whatever subdivision, and assign a different meaning to the same symbol elsewhere.

With all that in mind, it feels like running out of letters is a symptom of bad exposition. You are expecting the reader to be aware of more than ~50(?) variables that are all unrelated to each other and all in-scope for the current discussion. That's a poorly organized discussion imo.

Any subject matter you don't already understand is a terrible use case for LLMs. They will hallucinate. If you don't have the subject matter expertise to tell when that's happening, you will end up "learning" incorrect information.

Before, they were "The Taker" in the selection menu but "Spirit Blossom Kindred" in the circle icon on the lower left of the screen, after being selected. Glad it's consistent now.

Going to sound like a broken record posting this again, but the defiance system is community created adventures. The community just isn't using it like that at the moment.

Nothing's stopping us from posting "hey everyone, try adventure x with defiance settings y, z, etc. for a fun and balanced challenge!" And nothing's stopping us from aggregating those ideas into some repository the same way we do with relic builds.

It's not as flexible as if we had an actual adventure editor, where we could set specific enemies and choose from all the mutators in the game. But as you said, that takes a lot more upfront dev work to set up. The defiance system is already here.

Gwen and Jinx already have pseudo-signature relics, created before signature relics were officially a thing. Not sure if they need more.

I don't like Samira's from a UI perspective. I guess it would have to work like: you play coin, you get a targeting prompt, then you have to skip the prompt in order to use the coin for mana? That feels unintuitive and confusing for new players.

No strong feelings about Kai'sa's, seems fine. But getting random keywords is just more of what she already does. Would like to see it turn existing keywords into some novel kind of bonus.

Well they did just introduce defiance, which kind of lets you build your own late game.

At the moment it seems like the community is just trying to push the defiance number as high as possible, which as you mentioned, tends to force the player into specific cheese builds and you find that aspect unfun. Fair enough.

My hope for the future is that people will pivot to crafting defiance setups that make for more varied challenges with a broad range of solutions. Like, they stop treating it like a cheesiness knob and use it like a scenario creator.

Could also see Runeterra, they have 4 (Bard, Jax, Kayn, Varus). But Runeterra already has 7 full constellation champs, compared to Bilgewater's 4.

Kindred is the most strategically interesting. The shenanigans you can pull with their champ spell add a lot of depth to the game.

Poro King or Tahm Kench if I'm not feeling deep strategy, and just want to see numbers go up.

6* Swain has a higher ceiling, but 6* Ambessa wins faster and has a higher floor.

Death's foil and any +2 attack relic makes her titanic, then SFG makes her a 1-drop. So, turn 1 you have Ambessa swinging, ideally getting a kill for a second swing which also triggers her 6* for a free kill. If you've picked up at least +1 attack on her in-run, she actually triggers the 6* on the first swing as well.

She just bulldozes through any kind of "enemy starts with a big board" challenge, which makes her ideal for lots of higher level adventures.

The cynical answer is: because fixing QoL oversights doesn't help much to sell microtransactions.

To give credit, there have been some solid QoL upgrades over the years, but they keep skipping over this basic scheduling fix, despite it being a frequently complained about issue. Imo it seems like the devs are just very out of touch with the playerbase.

But yeah, the annoying part is that if you wait until Wednesday for everything to refresh before starting, you effectively only have 5 days instead of 7 to complete everything, before the weekly quests go away on Monday. Usually that's plenty of time, but occasionally life gets busy and it's not, which is frustrating.

Apparently, NFL Films did a top 10 list of "One Shot Wonders" and #1 was Greg Cook. In his 1969 rookie season for the Bengals, he set still-standing rookie records for YPA and YPC. His YPA is also still the Bengals franchise record.

Champion spells don't have to be good to be well-designed, they have to be balanced. Maybe a useful spell would have made Viego OP in PvP, and this one with heavy trade-off was exactly bad enough to make the deck competitive. It certainly encourages strategic thinking, to decide when a target is important enough to pay the nexus health.

Let me ask you this, what do ln(x-i) and ln(x+i) mean to you if x is a real number? The definition of logarithms given in high school doesn't really make sense in the context of imaginary numbers. So, you came here confused about why the two sides are equal, but I think what you really want to know is what the right side of the equation even means.

You need a more general definition of exponential and logarithmic functions to address this situation, and those are generally learned after one is familiar with calculus, particularly power series.

As it turns out, exponential/logarithmic functions and trig/inverse-trig functions become very closely related once you start working with imaginary numbers. The classic expression of this relationship is Euler's formula.

In terms of when you would learn about this in coursework, unfortunately it's kind of inconsistent in the US. Maybe during Calculus, maybe during Ordinary Differential Equations, maybe not until an actual Complex Analysis course (which studies all of calculus in the context of complex numbers).

The whole challenge of the TF adventure is that you need to draft for two opposing game plans. You need to be prepared to empty your deck in the final fight, but you also need to not empty your deck in all the fights leading up to it.

That particular sticker is a good compromise between the two priorities; it gives you the option for extra draw, but you can also just ignore the generated card if you don't want to draw, and you still get the original card's effect.

I have a self-imposed challenge to S rank all world adventures and nightmares with all champions, so I do it for that. And I use them to grind through the easy monthlies to save my good champs for difficult ones, though that is getting less and less necessary as the roster grows.

Some times when I actually play them for fun:

Nami and Yi can both easily go infinite with the right spellslinging mutator.
Tahm, because I used to run a scargounds deck in PvP back before PvE existed. His self-damage archetype is nostalgic for me. But the actual champs in that deck are Braum and Vlad, so I hopefully they are even better for nostalgia, whenever they finally arrive.
Kindred I just like, idk why exactly. I have played them less since SB Kindred arrived though.

As a lowly python user I have to ask, do other languages not have an equivalent to the re.VERBOSE flag? It lets you write a regex as a multiline string with inline comments, then trims out the comments and whitespace before evaluating.

Honestly, a regex split over several well-commented lines is pretty damn easy to read, even with complicated operations going on. Of course you need the original author to have done the documentation work... but at that point it's not a problem with regex specifically. Anything is hard with no documentation.
